Tao's Restaurant - Melbourne

Plus points: Very nice location and very roomy with good space between the tables; BYO with $10 charge per bottle; good and varied selection for each course; presentation is very impressive; Negative points; our waiter was not very good or accommodating... asked him a number of times to slow it down between courses. He was also pushing us to leave when there were still other customers present. Being a 6-course meal I personally felt the portion size for each course was too big... might be ok for others! Overall we had a great evening out with great food, lovely wines and good friends.

6 courses of little taste, too plain dishes. Service ok, overall average and overpriced. The chef needs to come up with something more special than this... Not particularly recommend.

Food was amazing and service was second to none, will recommend to everyone I know, cannot wait to visit again.

My wife and I booked in a lunch at Tao's on Sunday and were pleasantly surprised at the quality and service we received. They use a set menu but give a good selection of choice for each of the courses. Tea was not only included but also very good. All the food was great and flavorful, I didn't feel the need to season any of it to suit my taste. The service is exceptional, we never ran out of tea and as it was our first time the staff explained each dish and answered any questions we had. Also, as my wife couldn't have eggs, they made sure everything suited her dietary needs. I can't compliment the staff anymore as they did a great job and made out lunch that much more enjoyable. I can without a doubt recommend Tao's Restaurant to any of those looking for an enjoyable and flavorful dining experience.

We enjoy regular visits to this fixed price restaurant. The food is great value, with many courses and plenty of choice for each course. It has a lovely ambience with well spaced tables and scenic outlook.
