Mostly Japanese customers, sitting at counter and chatting with chef. Non Japanese tend to order cooked food rather than sashimi. The sashimi, although fresh, lacks variety, with only the usual salmon, tuna, hamachi.. The grilled kingfish was good.On a weekend night, best to make reservations as it's packed. View all feedback.
The sashimi is fantastic and prepared right in front of you. It's absolutely delicious. The only downside is the slightly higher prices, so I would give it four out of five stars.

Best sushi i have eaten in Australia. Basic no frills restaurant but food is exceptional. Unfortunately shop is going to shutdown soon. Go before it does.
Simple, basic, unpretentious and very, very Japanese, I thought we were back on Tokyo or Osaka when we stumbled into this place, looking for a quick meal before the theatre. If you're looking for fancy food or fancy surrounds, forget it, but if you like excellent home style Japanese cuisine at a reasonable price, this place is hard to beat. The sushi bento box was tasty and generous: succulent chicken pieces in crisp batter, tempura veggies and a single prawn (also crisp outside and cooked just right within), green salad, potato salad, a few sashimi slices, and the rest. The sushi and sashimi platter was also excellent. The pieces of fish may not be the most elegantly sliced you ever saw, but they are utterly fresh. And the service is quick and pleasant.A gem.
Good place to get consistently basic, but nice bento box from a native Japanese elderly couple. Service is fast and generally very good.
