I've been having a ball checking out Melbourne's hidden cafes and restaurants on my way to work and in my lunchtime - it was gorgeous - I love places that have a bit of a quirky twist for me to have fun photographing and this one did, with its suits and chillies around the place! Very friendly service, lovely surrounds and I particularly love the outdoor rooftop courtyard area - I love feeling like I'm having a littl... View all feedback.
What Lucas Giménez doesn't like about Sarti:
the food was certainly very nice and the menu very enticing (a good variety) however the service and food was extremely slow - over two and a half hours for dinner for 2 of us - no reason or apology given - disappointing View all feedback.
Wonderful service from very friendly and helpful staff but amazing food, exerting we had was beautiful , do yourself a favor and book in now, we couldn't fault anything
With a special of three courses and a glass of wine for $45 Sarti delivers a one hat sample of their capabilities. The zucchine grigliate and the fritto misto were perfect - visually exciting and delicious. Risotto and the John Dory were equally fine and the tiramisu was yet another interpretation but loads of fun. Do try some of the Italian red wines by the glass - a good selection.
Dinner for 2 on a Wednesday nite..arrived early so enjoyed a couple of lemoncello cocktails on the terrace which had old movies playing great start.. We tried a few different starters..rice balls, mullet & oysters top pick the quail was great..Mains shared the wagyu & the John Dory both very good.. & then Tiramisu wow this was the best I've tried.. Wine & coffee great..Service was Also excellent.. Great night on all counts.
We came for a pre-theatre dinner so time was of the essence. Service was good to start with the staff being very welcoming. We ordered quickly and were served our wines and then we waited. Eventually our mains came out but the sides we had ordered didn't. I struggled to get a waiter's attention as they were busy seating new groups and presumably assumed there would be no need to pay us any attention. Eventually I was able to ask a waiter about where our side dishes were. We had virtually finished our dishes before the sides arrived. Given the unpredictability of the service we felt like we didn't want to risk dessert as we had a show to get to and so left. The meals were tasty but not particularly large and seasoned with quite a bit of salt in hindsight, as we were quite thirsty for the rest of the evening. It may have been that the kitchen was just having a bad moment as the place was clearly busy but I don't feel the need to rush back.
