Great Teppanyaki restaurant with a few subtle differences. Didn't have the theatrics you would usually associate with Teppanyaki and the fried was garlic fried rice instead of the usual egg fried. In fact garlic highlighted in every thing that was cooked. If you like garlic, the food was fabulous. If garlic is not your thing you may struggle here although I'm sure you can ask the chef to remove it. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Riverside Teppanyaki:
Food was enjoyable but some staff members treated us badly, felt like we were intruding. Ignored us and even cooked our food in front of some overseas visitors.Lots of other excellent teppanyaki restaurants in Melbourne. View all feedback.
We had a great time at this restaurant. The food was not something we typically eat, but it was tasty and we loved watching the chef prepare it right in front of us. We ordered the dinner special and it was a filling meal. The service was friendly and prompt.
The food at this restaurant is incredible and definitely worth a visit. It can be a bit pricey depending on what you order, especially for a couple. They have a special menu item called the "Special Number" that, even though I don't typically like sushi, it always impresses me. Amazing.
We purchased a tasting menu deal from Groupon for this restaurant. We arrived early and had a private chef cooking for us directly on the grill, which was a great experience. The tataki and cauliflower soup were standout dishes, along with the seafood platter and steak with miso. The sauces that accompanied the dishes were also fantastic. Overall, it was a great value, but I'm not sure if I would pay the regular price for it.
Lunch on a Monday, so it was quiet, which suited us. We had the course lunch. The manager waiter asked about food preferences or dislikes. Our menu was then built around this information. I was offered some foods that I would not normally...consider, but the way they were cooked and presented made them so delicious.
We called in here on a quiet Monday night, it wasn’t busy. We were offered the choice of teppanyaki or a la carte and opted for the latter as there were six of us with varied likes and the teppanyaki was expensive. The server then...tried to upsell the menu suggesting that we would benefit from the taster menus but this was not what we wanted to do. These were also expensive with the basic taster menu starting at He was a little put out, it seemed, when we all opted for individual dishes and commented that these would not come out together but when the chefs had made them not a problem for a family used to tapas! When it came, we all enjoyed our food, lovely fresh tastes and not too much, we had two bottles of not cheap wine between us. Our server was not particularly attentive and was dividing his time between the a la carte area there were tables occupied) and the teppanyaki table. He was not the friendliest, even when we pointed out that the bill only contained one bottle of wine when we’d had two. For an extra table on a quiet night, we thought our custom may have been a little bit more appreciated. I would highly recommend the food but prepare to put up with upselling
