Was Anonym at POONS a mag?
We were part of a group of eventually 12 adults and 2 children, 2 adults were a bit late. After we got organised and ordered, the children's meal (chips) came out first and kept them happy. All the different courses (entrees, mains and desserts) came out as groups, so no one was left waiting for more than a few minutes for theirs. This showed great adaptability by the Chef and staff to do so, as all the courses were... View all feedback.
What Anonym dislikes about POONS:
Very, very disappointing. Food is very sloppy, the majority of which had no flavour! Poor communication between staff, management and customer. Waited over an hour before being told a meal was not available because the kitchen was to busy to make it!! Then took 39 minutes for the manager/owner to come to our table by which time two members of our party walked out and the table next to us also cancelled their order an... View all feedback.

Have not been to poons in years as was not impressed last time I was there. Went back for a friends get together. This time what an improvement. Food was tasty and fresh. They had two big tables in ours being one of them. Although...they were a little slow on taking orders food came out quite quickly,. Great menu with lots of choices. You can byo or buy from their fairly limited wine selection, would I return. Definitely.
During lunchtime, the restaurant was not crowded. The staff was friendly and the service was quick. We ordered two dishes from the extensive menu, as well as rice and green tea. However, we were a bit disappointed as we suspected that the meals may have been modified for Australian tastes rather than being authentic Chinese cuisine.
Group of friends we catch every year at poons. beautiful restaurant amazing staff and behind the scenes it must be an ingenious cook. beautiful selection of foods, we could never complain, as there is nothing to complain to keep the good work. we love you all
We were disappointed with our experience at this restaurant. First, they forgot to bring us our soup and we had to wait a long time. We ordered two appetizers, Singapore noodles, and two large fried rices. The total came to $100, which was not the issue. However, the meat in the dishes was lacking, the rice was average, and the noodles were just okay. There were barely any shrimp in the dishes and they were overly sweet. Overall, we found the meal to be very disappointing, especially considering it is supposed to be the best Chinese restaurant in the western suburbs. We will not be returning.
We have been dining at Poons for forty years, but we will never return. We were seated and asked for our order without being given menus. Our spring rolls arrived promptly, but we waited an hour and twenty minutes for our main dishes, which never arrived. Despite larger tables around us being served, our table and another table of two were ignored. The service was incredibly poor. We paid for the spring rolls we had received and left. Additionally, we were disappointed to see a small child serving dishes to customers. It is sad to see a Footscray institution like Poons decline in this way.
