The Sardinian food was superb. The service was a disaster. We were a party of 9. Aside from having to wait eons for the basic water, (had to ask twice) and truly crusty Italian bread, we had to wait for orders to be taken. 4 of us received food first, the next four waited another 10 minutes, and the last person did not get her meal until we were ready to leave. Came here because it was close to our hotel and we're pleasantly surprised.
We walked in minutes after their dinner service opened so the place was empty.
We didn't have a reservation, but the staff gladly set up a table for us. They had excellent knowledge of wines and made great food suggestions. This was the best Italian food we've had in Melbourne. The staff was also very friendly.
The Peppe pizza at this restaurant on Lonsdale Street near the theatres was absolutely delicious! Topped with mozzarella, potatoes, pancetta, blue cheese, and rosemary, it was the perfect size for sharing between two at lunchtime. Overall, a fantastic dining experience.
