I eat at this restaurant a couple of times a month, with my wife. The food is great and very cheap, and if only the didn't room was a little nicer and the service not as hit and miss, this could be an absolute gem. If you want great Persian food on the Southside, I highly recommend this place. View all feedback.
What Etha Stroman doesn't like about Persian Room 248:
It's more of a fast food place in style - no atmosphere, service is rough and ready. Beer bottle caps were removed with a fork. The highlight of the evening was when a kitchen hand joined a group of men at a table in a singlet! Very grim. Food is ok although dips are tasteless. The kebabs were ok, fish curry was good. No licence but $15 corkage fee for one bottle of wine and 3 bottles of beer. Not again. View all feedback.
At our visit to melbourne was price or quality no thing for me and my friend. we wanted to have Persian food and experience at the boxing day evening. when we arrived at the door, the waitress refused to enter us because we did not. She told us in English “sorry I can’t help them because they don’t have a reservation” she closed the door immediately and gave us no more explanation. we went back to our car, but I thought it didn't seem right. I called her and spoke in farsi. Surprisingly, she gave me only one reservation for the next 10 minutes. when we went back to the restaurant, a young polite man served us. but the same waitress did not seem to be welcome. After we had finished our meal, she went to our table and said: “Let me get the dishes,” she grabbed two more and beat them on the top of the last teller loudly on our table and went to theke. we were shocked and did not know how to digest the rude and unhappy behavior. I still thought that was a mistake. but when we paid the bill, she was definitiw rude and seemed sour. I have to say it was such a disappointment that people in the hospitality that served with such judging holdings. that totally ruined our day and the visit to melbourne. I still can't make any sense what happened and why she was acting like that? can the Persian room administration give us a statement?
Every piece penny worth spent with every voice of juicy tasteful kebabs, so we remember our experience. we ordered a delivery to celebrate ozzy’s birthday and what a celebration. gormeh sabzi was good, but you can say that the taste for it. needed to be developed. the prices are somewhat steep, but the taste and quality makes it worthy. I look forward to some more meal times.
Great food, good service and we liked the ambiente. family-friendly. will go back to our frequent visits in melbourne.
On Friday, 3rd jan, we booked a table on the day before lunch. when we showed up, the restaurant was closed and we could see dirty teller from the night before still on the tables. we called to see what he was. I have a record of my call at 1.04 a.m., that was so embarrassing when we invited guests to lunch. we had to find a place near as a back-up plan, but we had put our hearts on Persian food. very disappointed. on the way back to the car around 15 clock after lunch in laurent we noticed that the Persian restaurant was now open. we approached the dame in our booking. she said they had opened at 1 o'clock, but then traced back when I said I had a phone call of 1.04 o'clock. no idea what was going on with this place, but I would not recommend it based on this treatment. had no chance to taste the food!
Good value for money, the guy serving us was really nice, good serving size and food was delicious! Accessible location (walking distance from South Yarra station). Two thumbs up!
