There must be 100 restaurants on Lygon St - go to any of them other than this one. The food is bland, the restaurant itself is not particularly clean and the décor has all the charm of a suburban real estate agent's office from the 1980s. Worst of all is the service which is an odd combination of disinterest and aggression, especially from the supposed owners of the place. View all feedback.
I have been going to this restaurant for over 30 years. always friendly food is great. brought my new born there and tony wife and sons were always great. the food is exceptional and always fresh. Mauro and Fabio are a blast and polite. my parents have been going there longer to . tony is a great person and i have teh utmost respect for him and the way he goes out of his way to make you feel part of family. you want great food great atmosphere and service this is the place to go. see you soon Fabian and Kim and kids now grown up.
This was our first visit after all the lockdowns. In the past, we were quite regular diners, the food is not great but it was above average and we enjoyed the atmosphere of Lygon Street. Dirty, shabby and food was well below average. Firstly, my fork and plate had the remains of someone else's meal still crusted on it. Our bruschetta arrived- two slices of bread cut in half with a slice of tomato drenched in oil with some dried herbs on top. we hadn't even finished when our mains arrived. One very dried out piece of beef that was definitely not veal and some very undercooked scallops. There is nothing worse than overcooked seafood, except when it is raw! it was a disaster from start to finish!!
By no means is that homemade pasta. That is dry pasta cooked and trying to be passed off as homemade. Don't believe the hype. Just disappointed.
The venue took our booking and confirmed with me a week prior, after having family travel more than 3 hours to make the booking, we arrived to find the venue closed and no one answering my phone calls! holding a surprise birthday cake in my hand I walk up and down trying to find another place that will take the 8 of us on a saturday night at the last minute. IL Gambero took us with open arms. go there instead
Just happened to walk by and I’m glad I came in. Peaceful and relaxing plus great service and yummy food. Garlic bread, pasta and 2 glasses of wine later.....I’m happy!
