John and Sean always welcome with friendly smiles! Food doesn't change much but always great quality and have never had a bad meal here! One of our all time faves!!! View all feedback.
What Felicia Little doesn't like about Jack Satay:
We'd been to this restaurant a few years ago and enjoyed the fresh tastes and the great satay. This time around, everything felt a little underdone - the wait staff weren't quite on top of things; the food didn't taste as fresh as it had before. There wasn't anything wrong per se but I wouldn't bother going back. View all feedback.
I would give this restaurant four out of five peanuts! My sister and I met up at this Moonee Ponds restaurant recently and we indulged in a lot of roti bread. It was delicious!
I have never had Malaysian cuisine that felt so unauthentic before. The satay sauce seemed to come straight from a bottle and the sweet dipping sauce that came with most dishes...
I am a big fan of this restaurant, but we only go for special occasions. They offer both dine-in and takeout options. The menu has a wide variety of options to choose from.
Four out of five peanuts! My sister and I caught up recently at this restaurant in Moonee Ponds and I have to say, we ate a lot of roti bread...it was awesome! Entrée Lychee cocktail (Pretty good, particularly for a suburban restaurant) Second entrée Roti rolls Spring rolls Main Satay tofu stir fry bottle of red Dessert Banana deep fried in roti bread fresh fruit platter The main and the entrée were both delicious the satay sauce is a maz ing! The fresh fruit platter was very generous in size for $11, however, the roti bread dessert was a little light on the banana. The bill came to $140 for two of us, which is a little expensive, however, we had 2 entrees, 1 main, 2 desserts, bottle of red and 2 cocktails so I think we got both good quality and a nice quantity of food for our money. Overall, a fantastic experience and I will definitely be going back there. I wouldn't call it exxy but it definitely isn't a cheap place (Most mains looked to be about $25 to $30). The wait staff were all lovely and they offered us Easter eggs as we left. Nice.
The most INAUTHENTIC Malaysian cuisine I've experienced. The satay sauce is straight from a bottle and the sweet dipping sauce that accompanies most of the entrees, yes you guessed it, plain old sweet chilli sauce from a bottle. I've never been more disappointed in a beef rendang curry. They used the wrong cut of beef and hadn't cooked it long enough. Bland flavours and a watery consistency. I question if the person who made the rendang has even been to Malaysia. If you're after authentic, tasty Malaysian food, definitely give this place a miss. Jack's is a JOKE.
