Houndstooth - Feedback

Was Orion Lebsack at Houndstooth a mag?
Great little bar and restaurant in Fitzroy. The frontage is hidden away, so don't walk past! Provides an extensive wine/cocktail list as well as a good range of snacks, entrées, mains and desserts. Interesting flavours, a bit of a change from the norm, and a good vegetarian/vegan selection in addition to the meat dishes. Charming service. View all feedback.
What Nova Kshlerin dislikes about Houndstooth:
Small, quiet space off the main drag. Short menu includes a number of German-inspired dishes, along with some based on Asian and other cuisines. Starters were all good: olives served hot, nice Spanish ham, cucumber salad. But it went downhill from there. Salads were pretty bland, pork main dish was tough. Kitchen was fairly slow. Lovely and intimate - like being is someone's kitchen. But someone who can turn out small, well-crafted dishes. Likely to become a go-to favourite.
A small, no fuss place where you order at the bar, Houndstooth is a great place to grab drinks with friends and order from their ever-changing menu.

What a quaint neighbourhood gem so glad we came out into Fitzroy - well worth the visit. The area has lots of great bars and restaurants. We dined early as had been waking all day - the restaurant was empty so hopefully it picked up later in the night. Plenty of blackboard choices with week nights being cheaper we had 3 courses each for $25 - weekends they charge $30. We ordered Piadina with roast capsicum and chips with morrocan spice to get us started followed by Lamb ribs with caramelised chilli pepper and grilled polenta with chilli and smoked porcini. For mains went for the l Tortilla with pork andOsso bucco with root veg and mash. No complaints at all for value, taste and atmosphere.
Houndstooth, located in a small, quiet space off the main drag in Fitzroy, offers a unique dining experience with a mix of German-inspired, Asian, and other cuisines. The starters are a hit with hot olives, Spanish ham, and cucumber salad, but some dishes fell short. The extensive wine/cocktail list and interesting flavors make it worth a visit, with a good vegetarian/vegan selection available. The relaxed atmosphere, affordable prices, and delicious food make it a standout in Melbourne, with set price menus offering great value. Houndstooth's modern cuisine with Japanese fusion, attention to detail, and casual vibe provide a unique dining experience that is well worth a visit.
