Came here with a Groupon voucher, not sure what to expect. I'm not normally a huge fan of Mexican food, but decided to give it a go. I'm so glad I did. Great food served hot and fresh; really fun, casual vibe, perfect for catching up with friends (or a date! over dinner!
I would never ever go back to Amigos as there are couple of reasons. Reason number1 is hospitality: 1. I got voucher from group on and I noticed all the people who had the vouchers from group on were treated like trash. as if we were eating food for free. People who came after us were serviced first becoz they were not using the groupon. Also it took more than 25 mins for starters which was dips and Nachos than again waited 40 mins for main which was burrito and again more than 30 mins for desert. 2. Inspite of me requesting them not to put cheese and rice as I am allergic, still there was cheese and rice and they didn’t even bothered to make another burrito. 3. when we ordered desert we waited for 30 mins and than we were informed the batter for chiroz has been finished and we should go for brownie and Ice-cream Reason 2 : Horrible food 1.Food was really bad. I had the burrito and it was baked with some basel leaves and cheese.. i was wondering what kind of invention it was and the rice was on sides also for gulacomula i have to pay 5$ extra. 2. Sangria which they provided was not sangria it was just ice. More than half of the jug was filled with ICE. 3. We ordered desert as in chiroz as batter for chiroz was finished we agreed to get brownie with ice-cream. there was no ice-cream on top of brownie, instead of ice-cream they provided some thick cream. Reason 3: Late service we reached there at 6:20 and we finished our dinner only at 8:45 although we just ordered simple food
I 'll start by saying the food was fine, we all got burritos and the portions were huge. They weren 't amazing and I certainly wouldn 't pay $27 for them again (the black beans were cold and tasted like they 'd come straight out of a tin and the rice wasn 't much better than microwave stuff). The service, however, was terrible. On arrival, one of the waiters greeted us and when one of our group said Thanks boss , he replied I 'm not the boss mate, if I was I wouldn 't be working in here . We laughed and sat down at a table at the back by the window. It turns out he probably wasn 't joking as not one service member seemed remotely interested in serving us. Our drinks took a long time to come out (although 2 of us ordered cocktails so I assumed this was why). We received our meals and after that trying to get the attention of any wait staff was like trying to get blood out of a stone. No one came over to ask if our meals were okay or if we wanted any more drinks. At one point every member of staff was stood in the open kitchen area having a chat. If it had been really quiet then fine but the restaurant was very busy and I 'm sure at least one of them could have had a wander round checking customers were happy with their meals. Our plates were cleared without a word and we waited to see if anyone came back to ask if we wanted dessert (which we decided very soon after that we did) or another drink. I smiled and even waved at one of the ladies working there and, despite the restaurant becoming quiet, she seemed to be avoiding eye contact. After about 15 minutes I saw her running out in different clothes and assumed she just wanted to go home which was the vibe we got from everyone working. I could understand if it 'd been 10.30 and getting late but it had barely turned 9pm. After about 20 minutes since our plates were cleared we realised no one was going to ask if we wanted dessert and decided to just go and pay. One plus was the mojito cocktail I had was really good. Overall a really disappointing experience.
Just came back using a Groupon Voucher. The menu was different and I was expecting a Mexican perhaps a little bit better that the ones we have at food courts. WRONG!!! I asked a Sangria without alcohol because I was driving and no worries. Food was amazing. Entree really good, mains excellent and dessert magnificent.
