What Alessia Batz doesn't like about Brother Thomas:
We ordered baked beans and scrambled eggs with roast tomatoes and crispy bacon on a Sunday morning. Tables that ordered after us received their food first. After 30 minutes my eggs arrived with undercooked tomatoes and bacon. The second attempt was better. The bake beans were nothing special. The coffee was bitter. I would not recommend it- the customer service and cooking are just not great. There are many better pl... View all feedback.
This restaurant is part of the Jazz Corner Hotel and is on the mezzanine level of the hotel overlooking Flagstaff Park. The breakfast buffet was well provisioned and fresh with a great choice of both hot and cold dishes as well as a selection of...fresh juice and great coffee. A fantastic way to start the morning.
Stayed in the Oaks next door (I think they may be co-owned) for a few weeks (and will be back for a couple of months shortly). So far only tried the downstairs cafe for breakfast at weekends. Good range of veggie options and they are...more than happy to amend to be veggie, eg eggs Benedict with mushrooms in place of bacon/ham. Recommended is the smashed avocado and poached eggs on rye toast. When I return to Melbourne I’ll be back for sure and also plan to try in the evening.
The cafe is a slow lift ride up one floor. The cafe is long and narrow. We were quickly shown to a table. As it was a four seater, we could read our newspapers easily. It took a while before our orders were taken. My...wife chose eggs and rye toast. I had rye toast with vegemite and a side of mushrooms. They were all delicious and the servings were generous. While the bill of fare was not extensive, it was good to be able to have enough rather than a buffet where we always have too much.
A group of us went here for Brunch on a Saturday morning. We managed to get a table and all orders were taken efficiently. The food came out pretty quickly. I had the big breakfast, which was great and set me up for a big day shopping in Melbourne! The coffees were good and reasonably priced. Brother Thomas is right next door to Oaks on William, round the corner from Pegasus Aparthotel and over the road from the Queen Victoria Markets.
New to the Tripadvisor thing but ate here in February 2017, lovely eggs benedict and great service! Looking forward to our next Aus trip back here.
