What Lawson Kilback doesn't like about Basilico Albert Park:
I went to dinner with my daughter on a Sunday night. The restaurant was busy, which was a positive sign. My daughter thought her pizza was decent but nothing extraordinary. I ordered the Pollo on a gluten-free crust. I have tasted both better and worse. The crust was okay, but it was clearly gluten-free, whereas the better ones are hardly distinguishable. I ordered the gnocchi and it came smothered in too much Napoli sauce. The gnocchi itself was dry and had an excessive amount of flour. The garlic bread lacked both butter and garlic on most of the slices. It was reminiscent of generic supermarket garlic bread, but even that version usually has butter and garlic. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant and I do not plan on returning.
We ordered 2 chicken pizzas a margarita to pick up. the bases were burned dry, not authentic at all. $70 for three pizzas that could have made dominoes better! I called the manager he wanted me to take her back when we had waited 30 minutes. The pasta Risotto dishes were always really nice, but don't waste their time with the pizzas!

Went on a week night and found it difficult to feel welcome service staff nice , but even on arrival it seemed an onerous task hence found it difficult to agree with some of the reviews we considered before booking. If you go...the food is okay, nothing to be overly excited about and when food compared with prices, you like us will probably feel underwhelmed. Main meals were a combo of veal and pizzas, none of which overwhelming. $13 for a slice of Saganaki, bit over the top, particularly when told it could be shared amongst four people. Lucky we had a share of meatballs as well... In summary wouldn't totally write it off but would manage expectations better when and more likely, if, we were to return.
My wife and l had a lovely dinner enjoying the pollo pizza and calamari salad. Also enjoyed a nice bottle of vino. Great atmosphere and the service was fantastic.
