I came here last night after scouring the nearby area for a place to eat! It was very expensive with the house wine being $10 for a glass! However, it is BYO so this should be remembered. View all feedback.
What Emily Santana doesn't like about Baldovino:
We arrived at 7pm and were the only ones in the restaurant.. scary . Fortunately 3 more tables arrived at 8pm. But we were placed at the back of the restaurant out of sight of passing trade... not very clever. Food was only passable and...would have been fine for a regular Italian. In other words the mains at 0ver $30 were just not up to scratch. I had home made agnolotti filled with prawn and lobster meat, which sho... View all feedback.
What a wonderful time we had enjoying Sunday lunch at Baldovino it started with the warm welcome we received through to the amazing deserts and coffee. The meals were amazing. Delicious and authentic I can highly recommend this restaurant as true and authentic Italian meals but please leave room for dessert
This Italian restaurant, which is family-owned and operated, offers delicious food in a charming atmosphere. The staff is consistently friendly and provides excellent service with a smile. I have returned multiple times and have never been disappointed by any dish I have ordered, all of which I would rate at least a 9/10. While you can bring your own wine, the restaurant also offers a high-quality wine list.
I have been here once before so when friends invited us to join them for dinner we were happy to visit Baldovino's again.<br/ <br/ The restaurant is cosy and the staff were great, so helpful and served you more as a friend rather than waitress.<br/ <br/ The food was very good, we tried a number of different things. The mussels for entree were delightful and the sauce was rich, garlicky and flavoursome! Get some extra bread so you can dip it in the sauce and soak up the beautiful flavours. The caprese salad was alright but not wow factor and certainly not the worth the price we paid. Both my partner and my pastas both cooked nicely.<br/ <br/ BYO so bonus points there.
This restaurant has been in Thornbury a good 10 years or so and was the first fine dining restaurant in the area. We were a large group and shared entrees comprising of Brushetta Mista, Salt Pepper Calamari, fried whitebait, Arancinis, Polpettine, and the Sausage and mushrooms. They were all good and highly recommend the Sausage and Mushrooms and the Arancini. For mains I ordered the special 'Spaghetti al Nero ' which is basically Spaghetti infused with Squid Ink with saffron and seafood, absolutely a delicious meal. I tried the Seafood Soup Special that someone else ordered and it was also very good. The service was also excellent as the staff are very knowledgeable.
Fantastic upmarket family italian restaurant, very authentic with everything explained to you by the attentive staff who are mostly family too. Lovely decor, delicious food and welcoming staff. !
