Local seasonal food combined with a French taste. Wine list fine. Service friendly . A good place to spend an evening with friends. Not easy to find, but I would call it " an hidden treasure".

One rainy night several years ago, thanks to the concierge at my hotel in the center of town, we discovered this rather old fashioned elegant country place seemingly out in the middle of nowhere. I was impressed by the look, the food, the service, the wine list. This year i went back (twice) and so thoroughly enjoyed myself in so many ways! The chef is from the Alsace and twists some German and French standards with a nod towards Japan and Italy. But not in a heavy handed way at all. The food was as good as ever, excellent quality and beautifully presented.Things there just seem to flow effortlessly together. The manager Sascha Bürgel is a great guy and very fun...Boy does he know his wine, food, and all types of esoterica. He makes you feel at home, chatting with you as if you were an old friend. Our waiter Jerome was also so personable and welcoming. It is really heartwarming to find a restaurant of this caliber, an oasis that is both gemütlich and refined. Order the Steinbutt, the beef consommé, the homemade ravioli and the veal and try some great German wine!

We had arrived from the River Rhein boat tour, which has a stop off directly to the restaurant, it was very convenient. It is a beautiful building and has a very spacious dining area inside as well as outside, overlooking the River Rhein. The property around the restaurant is serene and natural, perfect for a nice walk during the day. The interior decor is classic and beautiful. The food and service were impeccable. As we had a wedding reception, they had accommodated us with a lovely section and gave us privacy to allow for small speeches and moments, from the other patrons. Lovely, 5 star food and presentation. Perfect place for special occasions or even business meetings.
