What Rusty Franecki doesn't like about Fronhof:
Das Ambiente ist mehr als stimmig für den alpenländischen Stil - auch der Service ist gut.Für die Küche gilt allerdings - entweder wurde der Koch genötigt, Bayern zu verlassen oder er weiß nicht, was er macht. Der angebotene Schweinsbraten ist eine Todsünde der bayerischen Küche - statt leckerer Kruste gibts hier schwabbelige zähe Haut. Mit der Mikrowelle klappt halt der Schweinsbraten nicht. We decided to eat during the traditional goose season in november and December in fronhof. After we had many disappointments in düsseldorf, we decided to try fronhof in meerbush. the best decision ever! the restaurant is original with a very beautiful Austrian design that reminds us of après ski. the proportions were greater than expected and of excellent quality. the dessert (Kaiserschmarn) was simply sublimed. Once they sit, they are served with a delicious brot that appears handmade. as they see from the pictures, we had a suppe with geese and gooseberry on kartoffeln for starter. as a main course we both went for the breast of the geese with red cabbage, knödeln and a baked apple in jus. even if we don't really have, we decided to go for the excellent imperial smarn as dessert. this was served with plums and vanilla icecream and was just delicious. the selection of weeping offers something for everyone and after that there is an excellent selection of digesting agents. if they have drunk too much, they will pay a taxi to düsseldorf only €35. next time we will definitely go for other Austrian specialties that have heard that the Wienerschnitzel should also be excellent. nb they should go in november and December, they must make a reservation as the place is packed in the rule on the last place.
In the historical part of Meerbusch-Lank is the restaurant fronhof. they disassembled an old building from Austria and rebuilt it in a building. the atmosphere is super cozy, especially this season. as an appetizer we had smoky with pan fried...Kartato patties an earlylingssalat. the dressing was a tasty senf base and a very good raw sauce finished the dish. I had a goose breast with a potato dumpling and red cabbage in a beautiful chestnut green. my daughter had the traditional court of rouladen. very authentic and tasty. the menu is not very large, but everything looked good and the prices were reasonable. fronhof has a good wine card and a very good selection of drinks after dinner, including very beautiful schnapps such as pear williams, mirabelle and others. overall a very nice evening meal experience.
A simple Austrian feeling for the restaurant with lots of wood everywhere. Excellent cold, thick (unusual, but welcome) and perfectly cooked rarely as desired. starter was also perfectly cooked and presented and overall a beautiful place in a charming old world location.
Wonderful atmosphere, cute little town square, great food, amazing even-the perfect salad and hamburger. Glass of wine in a great place
The most perfect restaurant with wonderful food and a warm welcome. Restaurant Fronhof reminds one of the pleasures of dining out. Simple, unassuming, but absolutely charming and worth a visit. The food is excellent and truly showcases classic German cuisine at its best. This is a family run restaurant and I found it lovely to see how the perfect terrace lends itself to family meals, where the kids can play in the square nearby and the parents can linger over a snaps late into the summer evening. I will long to come again ... thank you for a perfect night
