Amoretti - Medellín

The food was ok and the overall experience was a good value. I had the Menu del Dia with a tomato soup, pasta and salad main dish and a limeade. My wife had the pear and cheese salad while my daughter tried the lasagna bolognese.The soup was very tasty. It was served in a French Onion style crock and toped with a seasoned dough that created a nice crust after being baked. The pasta and salad were good, but a bit of a letdown after the soup.My wife's salad had a nice dressing and a generous portion. The lettuce was a a bit wilted. The best dish by far was the lasagna.The location is very nicely decorated. We sat on the patio section out front.

Good carbonara and coconut lemonade, and the Volcán Milkyway (chocolate cake with arequipe filling and a side of vanilla ice cream, similar to a "molten chocolate cake" in the US) was really good. The service was okay, and what makes this not 5/5 is how expensive it was. It wasn't insane for US standards, but for Colombian standards, this place is pricey.

I have a question mark on my title because this Italian eatery calls itself a gastropub. I'm a bit confused on why it does this because it doesn't serve beer as far as I could tell.The wait stuff is friendly and attentive, maybe a bit overly so. I had to keep telling the waitress that I needed a minute to look over the menu. In the end I ordered the Bolognesa with spaghetti a classic pasta dish with a Limonada de coco. The limonada de coco was very delicious, that is one of my favorite Colombian drinks. The bolognesa however was pretty standard. I was expecting something a bit more dazzling from a place that looked so nice. The food wasn't bad by any means, it just wasn't anything above an average bolognesa. For dessert I ordered the Volcán Milkyway which is a chocolate cake with arequipe on the inside that bursts out when you cut it and a side of icecream. The dessert itself was pretty delicious, I was much more impressed with the dessert than the entrée.I can't recommend this place to anyone though because the price doesn't match the quality. I wouldn't have been disappointed with the restaurant if I could've paid maybe 20.000 pesos less than I did.

Amoretti was strongly suggested by a local acquaintance during my first visit to Medellin and we were not disappointed. I seldom eat at a restaurant twice during a brief visit to a city with good dining choices, but this charming place lured me back (solo) after an initial visit with my wife. They have a very good daily lunch special at a very reasonable price, a nice ambience, and good service by Colombian standards, i.e., slow but gracious. I'm not a tomato soup fan, but their version, with a baked crust on top, won me over. Although in a popular area and very convenient for us and anyone visiting El Poblado, because of its second floor location it's easy to walk right by without noticing it.

Really pretty place with very beautiful furniture and decorations. Delicious food, not so many variations or options but excellent taste (specially the 4 cheeses pasta), not so great desserts (macaroons) but an awesome service and really good environment.
