Everything about our stay at The Clayton Hotel (Leeds) was really good. Our room was large, comfy and spotlessly clean. The Bar and Restaurant, was very good and reasonably priced. However the best thing about the Hotel is the staff, whether from the office, to reception, to bar, all absolutely fantastic. The hotel is situated just a short walk from the Station close to the City Centre. We will definitely stay again.... View all feedback.
What Ayliean M doesn't like about Clayton Leeds:
Overall it’s okay, I likely won’t stay again because it wasn’t worth the price they charge, but it was fine. Pros: decent sized room felt safe clean Cons: pricey aged decor the worst breakfast mushrooms I have ever tasted in my life and I love mushrooms, veggie sausages were also inedible, the breakfast in general is absolutely not worth the money if you’re veggie/vegan View all feedback.
We reserved two rooms, and both were outstanding. The rooms were immaculate, and the beds were incredibly comfortable—a big thank you to the housekeepers who often go unacknowledged. The receptionist was fantastic and accommodating to all our needs. Breakfast was exceptional, and once again, the staff were superb. The availability of parking at the hotel was an added bonus, with plenty of spaces. I highly recommend this hotel for its value for money, great location, and excellent staff. Thank you, and we will certainly be back!
One of the standout moments of our stay was the breakfast buffet, which was truly impressive. It featured an extensive array of options to suit all tastes, and the seating area was spacious and accommodating, allowing guests to enjoy their meals comfortably. I was particularly pleased to see that the hotel addressed gluten allergies, and they offered a lovely selection of fruit juices, flavored water, and a variety of hot beverages. It really felt like a breakfast extravaganza! Additionally, the hotel has a charming library for those who appreciate reading. As a book lover, I was thrilled to discover this cozy nook filled with books—it provided a peaceful retreat for some literary escapism, adding a delightful touch to our overall experience. As for the room, I found the beds to be incredibly comfortable. The blackout curtains kept the room dark, which contributed to an exceptional sleep experience. Since a good night's rest is important to me, I truly appreciated the quality of sleep I was able to enjoy during my stay—it was exactly what I needed! It's worth mentioning that parking at the Clayton Hotel is not complimentary. Guests need to obtain a parking ticket from the machine at reception and pay upon leaving. While I believe free parking should ideally be included for hotel guests, it's something to keep in mind when planning your stay. On a less positive note, I found the hotel gym to be somewhat outdated. The equipment appeared worn, and the overall atmosphere didn’t motivate me to have a workout session. This could use some improvement, as a modern, well-maintained gym would certainly enhance the hotel's appeal to fitness-conscious guests like myself. Lastly, I did find the reception staff to be a bit inattentive, which was disappointing.
During my stays, I experienced different rooms, and this is where I faced some disappointments. While the rooms are indeed spacious with lovely views and kept very clean, a significant drawback is the absence of air conditioning. This becomes a major issue as not all windows promote good airflow, and with UK summers getting increasingly hot, this greatly affects overall comfort. Each room is equipped with a plug-in fan, which offers some respite, but I doubt it will be sufficient during the scorching 40°C temperatures we might face in the future. I understand that installing and maintaining air conditioning can be costly, but considering that every other hotel I’ve visited in Leeds offers it, this omission is a major downside to the overall experience. Another concern was the inconsistent shower temperature regulation. Regardless of the time of day or the power setting, the water temperature would unpredictably shift from extremely cold to extremely hot—often both—without any adjustment on my part. As someone who values bathing as a time for reflection and relaxation, I found it nearly impossible to unwind under these conditions. During one week, I was assigned a disabled access room, which, although it had similar temperature fluctuations, at least seemed to function more reliably. I don’t understand why the non-disabled rooms are having these issues. Lastly, a minor inconvenience was the lack of plug sockets next to the beds in all the rooms I used. This forced me to charge my phone across the room every night. While it did help me wake up better by having to get up to turn off my alarm, it felt more like a hassle overall.
I had a wonderful experience during my stay, as always. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. The food was excellent, particularly the breakfasts. We also appreciated the secure underground parking.
The hotel is wonderful, with exceptionally comfortable beds! Although there was no air conditioning and it was quite warm, there was a fan provided that was quiet and effective. The staff were very helpful, and the underground parking was a bonus. Overall, the prices were very reasonable!
