Good choice of fresh baked products such as muffins, scones croissants, variety of macaroons. Had crepes with fresh fruits, which was excellent. So was the breakfast burritos.Crowded indoor seating. Inconvenient for maneuvering an electric wheelchair. Floor was not clean. View all feedback.
What R C doesn't like about Bartram House Bakery:
Food great but they gave me the wrong cake after ordering it days. I get to the birthday party open the box and see the wrong cake. Called and they told me to bring it back. What was I to do about no cake for the birthday girl. $32 for the birthday girls cake being wrong. Very disappointed! I looked like an ahole. Told her it was in the box and she was so excited! Their filet salad used to be my absolute favorite in the area. However, it seems they have discontinued using their fryer—perhaps they've even removed it entirely—because fries are no longer on the menu. I've visited a few times hoping this was just a temporary change, but it appears that the fryer is indeed gone and now the only side option available is breakfast potatoes. This has been a significant disappointment, as we used to really enjoy both regular and sweet potato fries. The filet salad just isn't the same anymore. Over the last few months, the quality of the food has not been as good as it once was.
I discovered this bakery when I was pregnant and had a strong craving for cheesecake. The first visit was fantastic, but unfortunately, the second and third visits did not live up to that standard. The service was quite poor, with no smiles or warmth from the staff. The espresso was served cold, and the strawberries on top of the cheesecake appeared old and dried out. Additionally, they don’t clean the tables promptly after customers leave. I don’t think we will be returning anytime soon.
I ordered a hot ham and cheese sandwich, which was supposed to come with cheddar, white bread cut diagonally, and a side of mustard and tomato. However, the bread I received was whole wheat, the cheese was shredded cheddar, it was cut in half instead of diagonally, and there were no tomatoes or mustard. To top it off, the bread was stale. Additionally, the cook had shoulder-length hair that wasn't covered by a hairnet. This was such a disappointment, as Bartrams has always been one of my favorite places to eat.
Listen, I have heard a lot of hype about a certain other bakery in the area...don't believe it! Bartram's beats it, HANDS DOWN!! The only problem with my late day visit is that they were sold out of their cakes and my favorite chocolate croissants...but no worries! I definitely purchased alternatives! Try Bartram's Bakery! You will NOT be disappointed!!!
5/13/23 I give Bartram’s 3 stars today, instead of 1, because I live in McMurray don’t want them to leave town. Watching them expand all over the Pittsburgh area, I’m thinking McMurray is the neglected step child. 2010 2020 Bertram’s here was FABULOUS! Eggs Benedict to die for! Pasteries that rivaled Europe. They’re recipes for food are scrumptious, when prepared correctly. Since the Pandemic, the service food preparation has been erratic, at best. DON’T CHANGE YOUR RECIPES. DON’T CHANGE YOUR OFFERINGS. Charge more if you must, but find a regular cook staff that know what they are doing. PLEASE.
