Old Bridge Tavern - McHenry
Old Bridge Tavern
Description
Nestled in downtown McHenry, this charming dive bar serves excellent drinks, tasty $4 Bloody Marys and game-day perks like free hot dogs, drawing a friendly, lively crowd. Value and atmosphere are highlights, but service is inconsistent: bartenders can be helpful or impatient, pours and pricing vary, and occasional staff behavior has marred visits. It’s a warm, social spot for casual nights and sports watching—just expect hit-or-miss service and variable experiences.

There are always police present due to the frequent fights that occur every weekend. It's not a very nice or safe place to go for a drink.
We decided to stop by this place after leaving Corkscrew due to a lack of seating and rude staff. Upon entering, we were quickly served, and the atmosphere was welcoming. The staff and patrons were all very friendly. They offer $4 Bloody Marys, which were quite tasty. Overall, it's a charming little dive bar!
I dropped by for the final quarter of the Bears game today. The atmosphere was great, with a friendly crowd and a wonderful bartender. They offered free hot dogs during the game, although I didn’t grab one this time. I’ll definitely return the next time I’m in the area.
I visited this restaurant tonight for a drink, but the bartender was impatient and took so long to bring our second round that we ended up leaving. I'm not sure if I will be giving them another chance.
