The 1835 Smokehouse - McGaheysville

The absolute worst I’ve ever eaten. The pork was so dry I thought I was going to choke and the ribs tasted like they were old. They should be ashamed to call themselves a smokehouse Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $50–100

I’d advise everyone to NEVER go here. Go to Hanks if you want bbq or find the Log Cabin food truck. These people shouldn’t be allowed to serve food anymore, do not eat here. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

Website says they open at 11:00am...called at 11:00...no answer....called at 11:10...said they should be open at 11:30. They no longer offer the Family Bundle, so my husband had to buy everything individually!!! They charged an extra $2 for 4 regular hamburger buns!! Don't think we'll be back!!! This meal certainly met my high expectations. I got the pork bbq plate which came with two sides and i had to choose mac and cheese and hushpuppies. Lots of places to sit and could be a good hangout with the boys if you are trying to chill for a good 30-45 minutes. Relatively cheap if you are looking for a cheaper place to eat. Atmosphere of place is amazing and i would definitely recommend this place to eat sometime on vacation or just stopping by massanutten.

I’m leaving a review here because I used to frequent this place often when it was Log Cabin BBQ. It was a staple of our trips to Massanutten and the food and service was always top knotch. About a year and a half ago we revisited when it changed to 1835 Smokehouse. It had declined from its Log Cabin days but was still ok (had table service and food was decent). Just tried going there for dinner the other day and the place had no service at all. They used to sell pies and jams and this time there was nothing. The menu had also completely been cut and there was maybe one person in the whole place. The place was desolate and depressing. We basically left immediately and a good thing too. Recent reviews of this place appear to show we made the right choice. This place needs to be rescued. It used to be an amazing barbecue spot.
