What NBA BRIONES doesn't like about La Costilla Grill Mcdonough:
The only thing I didn't like is that they charge you a 20% tip without asking you and I've gone to other locations of the same restaurant and they don't charge you that 20 View all feedback.
I’m not a stranger to authentic Mexican food. This food was HORRIBLE with a capital H?. I really do think that most people don’t give a damn what they eat. They go to these places because everyone else is going. These folks just dump a whole bunch of old bay seasoning on the shrimp, steak over cooked, refried beans refried too many times, glasses dirty, sweet tea was more like water with a splash of tan it didn’t even have the color of sweet tea. Y’all need to stop lying to folks in these reviews because a 4.6??? Street corn was blah. How can you get a taco wrong? Then…….these folks brought us out our bill with a 20% gratuity already added in….you a lie devil and we ain’t paying it! Oh, it was my husband, myself and our 7 year old daughter. 20% gratuity took our bill to a little over $150. Usually, I wouldn’t mind. But for the food we got, hell nawl to the nawl, nawl, nawl! They said the gratuity is in place for large parties….Sir, 1,2,3. They took it off. We tipped according to service. 0 out of 10, do not recommend.
My waitress LAURA was amazing working on her English but sweet, and patient and just over all amazing…. Not to many options food wise only reason for the 4
Ms. Laura was awesome! ? I’ll be back just for her service!!
La Parrilla is our go to for Mexican in McDonough; however, tonight we arrived later than usual and there was a 45 minute wait, so we decided to try La Castillo Grill for the first time. BAD DECISION…..we arrived and the La Castillo Grill was totally empty except for a customers at the bar. We actually discussed leaving since the place was empty assuming something must be wrong with the food or something else for the place to be totally empty at 5:45 on a Friday night), but we stayed. The chips and salsa were fair…..thick chips and salsa that tasted mostly like Cholula Hot Sauce. We ordered and our food arrived quickly. My shredded pork taco was good, but very, very tiny…..the corn tortilla might have been 3.5 inches in diameter at best with a tiny bit op pork on top seriously, THE smallest soft taco EVER). My hubs got the ribs which he really liked…..literally, they were fall off the bone tender. When we got our bill, we realized why the resultant was empty. There were four adults and two children under age 4 in our party only 3 adults placed an order and ate). No where on the menu or posted in the restaurant was information that there would be a 20% gratuity added to our ticket……yes, 20%!!! I asked on the way out and was told they add a 20% gratuity on parties of 5 or more…..really??? In addition, they charged $1 for a side of jalapeños which came one of the tiny paper condiment cups see pic attached the cheese dip by itself was 8.95 on menu). Our total bill was $50.05 with gratuity see pic below). My hubs was going to use the G Pay app to pay using the QR code on our ticket, BUT he noticed that the restaurant adds another 20% tip if you pay with the app……are you kidding me???!!!??? My SIL’s bill was $57 and some change. They ordered the 3 taco meal, cheese dip, 1 soft drink and one quesadilla kids meal for their two little ones to share my daughter did not eat). He added cheese dip on their rice for a whopping cost of $7.90 2 $3.95). He also ordered extra sour cream $1) that also came in the tiny condiment cup which equaled about a tablespoon of sour cream at best. Again, the food was good, but we felt we had been robbed by the 20% gratuity and the high cost of tiny extras. We always tip well especially when the service is good, but the services doesn’t have to be good when there is a guaranteed tip. We had to ask for drink refills and get someone to find our server for our ticket. So, now we know why the La Castillo Grill was empty tonight……because previous customers have learned to dine elsewhere where you get good service and food at fair and reasonable price. Adios, La Castillo Grill……you can find us back at La Parilla next Friday night!
