What a great and unique addition to the typical Asian choices we have! a large part of the menu is or can vegan staff seems to understand what vegan means and what sauces to avoid. our meal was delish and unusual in terms of aromen and presentation. the choice of hot sauces is worth checking to real Asian sriracha sauce! actually it is worth even if they don't plan to go to the shopping center.
Sen Khao in Tyson's Corner, VA is a much-needed addition to the limited veg*n options in the Greater DC region. I recently had a delicious and satisfying lunch at this veg-friendly restaurant, enjoying their Mee Kathi dish with coconut curry and rice noodle soup topped with peanuts, cabbage, bean sprouts, and banana blossom. I opted for tofu and vegan sauce, which did not disappoint. The staff was friendly, and the upscale food court setting provided a pleasant dining experience. I appreciated that the menu clearly identifies which items can be made vegan, with five out of ten options being customizable. It would be even better if some items were default vegan to make ordering easier for plant-based diners.
During our visit, both my spouse and I ordered the noodle salad bowl, which was delicious. My spouse even exclaimed, "yummy!" The sauce with peanuts had just the right amount of salt and oil. The dish also included a variety of raw veggies such as pickled carrots and cucumbers. Tofu could be requested without frying. The portions were generous. Customers place their order at the counter and pick it up there as well. Our meal for two, including green teas, tax, and a 10% tip, came to $31.32. The restaurant does not accept cash. We would definitely dine here again. In a May 2019 update, we returned for a second visit and the food was still delicious.
Sen Khao is a fantastic and distinctive addition to the usual Asian dining options available. A considerable portion of the menu is vegan-friendly, and the staff is well-informed about vegan preferences and which sauces to steer clear of. Our meal was delicious and featured unique flavors and creative presentation. Their assortment of hot sauces is a must-try, including authentic Asian sriracha sauce. I would highly recommend visiting Sen Khao, even if a trip to the mall is not on your agenda.
