Description

Overall, reviews for EKI Bento are mixed. Some customers found the food to be terrible, with one reviewer describing it as tasting like a "packet made product" and another finding the sushi to be plain and homemade-tasting. However, others have had positive experiences, praising the large portions in the bento boxes and enjoying the udon noodle soup and sushi. While some customers found the food to be overpriced or not as good as other Japanese restaurants in the area, many appreciated the quick service, friendly staff, and delicious food, particularly mentioning the well-cooked takoyaki, fresh sushi, and perfectly cooked rice. Overall, EKI Bento seems to be a convenient spot for a quick Japanese meal, with opinions varying on the quality of the food.

Terrible. I never write reviews, Im not phased by things easily, but I've joined up to share my experience with this Japanese takeaway place. I love Japanese food - every week I go out and try different Japanese places, today I tried EKI Bento - and what I got tasted absolutely disgusting. Tasted like some packet made product. So I bought a chicken teriyaki bento box, let's talk about the main products of this bento box. The teriyaki chicken - The rice, overcooked gluggy / soggy - the chicken was flavourless , all I could taste was salt. I was eating this and just couldn't even finish it because it was just so gluggy and salty. The Sushi was plain, it was fresh but it tasted very plain. It's like when you try and make sushi yourself following a basic recipe and it has that homemade taste, then you go to Japanese restaurant and it just has that flavour you love! Well, the sushi that I had from these guys tasted just like the basic plain home made one. Disappointed. The only part of this bento box that I thought was acceptable was the salad and the fried elements. I appreciated the touch of orange but it was probably the only part of the dish I liked (it was a nice sweet orange). Im disappointed by this place and I will never return back.

Cheap and cheerful Japanese food. One of my favourite places for a casual lunch

Very reasonably priced and you get what you pay for! Sushi was a little dry but overall was quite nice. The veggie tempura was very nice and they were generous with their amount of tempura sauce given. The takoyaki was well cooked, crispy on outside and soft on the inside! Staff were very friendly and accommodating. only downfall is that the interior of the actual restaurant isn’t that nice and inviting but for a quick bite or some takeaway it’s perfect!
