Caravella - Mayen

The first time we had been here with a old, and when my wife wanted to change diapers and they didn’t have a table they organized one in one of the bathrooms. That is customer service! Rest of the stay they made everything else...possible as well! Really great. Oh and the food is great too. Just the many plates you get, since they use one per side dish, can make the table crowded and in my opinion they could as well serve sides on the main plate.

Gorgeous food and made very very welcome.. We were last here years ago and still outstanding service.. A must to see and enjoy when visiting

Caravella has been around for many years and through different owners but I was pleased at this most recent trip. The service was good and quick, and the food was good. This is a certainly one of the better Italian places in Mayen – good...enough to host professional business lunches. The service was formal with good presentation and all food arriving simultaneously and efficiently and crisply presented. The portions were a decent size and sufficiently flavourful. They had good quality ingredients in the melons with ham and garlic shrimps. The vitello tonatto was also well made and of a good standard. Our entrees were also good, with the pasta dishes being well composed, good portions and tasty sauces. We also had the aubergine parmesan which was big for the starter portion with lots of layers of aubergine, cheese and sauces. It was hot and yummy when served. In Mayen, you could not get much better Italian cuisine in a nice environment. I would suggest you go there if you are in the area and are craving some nice Italian dishes.

The food was good but they don't give your money back when you pay. They do not give you a chance to give a tip, cause they assume that when you pay, you already give a tip...we had to pay euros, we gave never saw the rest of the money back...we didn't want to argue, since it was not worth it....hence...this bad review...so for future customers: make sure you have the correct amount of money with you if you don't want to pay too much without being given the chance to tip.
