We have had multiple occasions to eat at Sante since becoming acquainted with Adam via the Matthews Farmers market. Our most recent experience was Mother’s Day. It was fabulous, we have never had a less than great expierence with this being our third 2018 visit. Bravo! View all feedback.
We look forward to Mother 's Day Brunch, our family of 4 came at 11:15 for our 11:30 reservation. We waited outside until 11:35 when we sat on a table in the middle of the dining room. We asked for a terrace, but they said it was full, even though we had waited a little longer for a table. Anyway, we ordered at 11:45ish and got our entrees over Noon. This is the last thing we saw from our waitress until she appeared at 12:15, just to put the bill on the table next to my empty glass of water. When we tried to get their attention, they actually ignored us! So, we stopped another waitress and asked for refills - after all we still ate our ENTREES when the bill fell on the table! At this point our waitress returned and abruptly explained “Sorry, we need this table for a 12:30 reservation. We sat in silence for a few seconds before we asked them. She didn't hesitate before she said, I'm sorry. My 6 and 4 years old children hadn't finished their meals. We were not told when we were sitting (or when we had made the reservation weeks ago that we had only 40 minutes to sit, order and eat. We immediately rose from the table, paid the bill (watched 10 minutes!!!!! and saw them clear, our half eaten, now paid, food. And to insult injuries, the owners told us these things when we express our insult and disappointment about the situation: In a pleasant and sincere voice, chef owners told me you (i.e. their customers must understand that today (Mother 's Day is terrible, really hard. . Once again I am shocked and disturbed that the owner Koch actually complains about being busy!!!! He also told me it wasn't your original table. We decided to sit there. Again, more shock on my part. Why weren't we given options and asked if we were ready to wait a few minutes for a table or asked if we could quickly eat and get out? We felt like a burden and anger when we only had a nice family brunch on Mother's Day. My children came to the car and asked why they hadn't come to finish their lunch. And ask, why did they throw us out? I'm lost for an answer.
We were looking forward to Mother's Day brunch and arrived at 11:15 am for our 11:30 am reservation. We had to wait until 11:35 before being seated at a table in the middle of the dining room. We had requested a table on the patio but were told it was full, despite being willing to wait. We placed our order around 11:45 am and received our entrees at noon. However, our waitress did not return until 12:15 pm when she abruptly dropped the bill on the table next to my empty glass. When we tried to get her attention, she ignored us. After flagging down another waitress for refills, our original waitress returned and informed us that they needed the table for a 12:30 reservation. We were shocked and asked if we had to leave immediately, to which she replied, "Sorry." Our children, aged 6 and 4, had not finished their meals. We were not informed upon seating or making the reservation weeks ago that there was a time limit of 40 minutes. We promptly paid the bill and watched as our half-eaten food was cleared. The owners, when we expressed our dismay, told us that Mother's Day was very busy and apologized for the inconvenience. They also mentioned that we were seated at a different table than originally planned due to being behind schedule. We were not given any options and felt like a burden. This experience left us feeling disappointed and confused, especially when our children asked why they were not allowed to finish their meal. Overall, we were unsatisfied with our Mother's Day brunch experience at this restaurant.
Excellent food. Great atmosphere and wonderful staff. We have been wanting to come there for years and so very happy we finally did. Will be making this a regular place to have a wonderful dinner.
I'm not a huge fan of collard greens, or risotto . . . but when Chef Adam Reed makes them at Santé in Matthews, I eat every bite. We dined there as an early birthday dinner as a gift from my mother. We started with a charcuterie plate of meats, cheeses and accouterments. We devoured every delicious bite. My mother ordered the Pistachio Crusted Salmon, which she loved. The husband ordered the bacon wrapped trout, and though it was a HUGE serving, he ate every bite. I ordered the pan seared scallops. I am a chef and I make some amazing scallops. These were perfectly cooked; slightly crisp on the edges and soft and buttery in the center. They were paired with the collard greens, and a parmesan herb risotto. Like I said before neither of those sides happen to be my favorite, but I assure you that they were so delicious that our server retrieved an almost pristinely clean plate. For dessert, I ordered a creme brûlée, which I've made and consumed hundreds of times. This particular serving was light and creamy and lacking in the waxy texture that I've been known to serve delicious! The restaurant was quiet as it was the night before Charlotte's Queen's Feast began, but that suited us just fine. We had a fantastic service and an amazing meal. Kudos to Chef Adam Reed and his wife for a wonderful dining experience!
I have been wanting to eat at this restaurant for years, but finally did so last night. I ordered the scallops and the she crab soup. I enjoyed every bite and it was one of the best meals I have ever had, absolutely delicious. Our waitress was fantastic and very accommodating. She was friendly and described the dishes perfectly. All six of us were impressed with Brenda and I would love to have her as my server again when I return. I even mentioned to her that she resembled a movie star, and everyone at the table agreed. We finally remembered her name on the way back to Monroe - Diane Wiest, a talented actress. Sante has now become my favorite dining spot and Brenda is a treasure!
