We love High Trees! The staff is incredibly friendly and efficient. The tables are nicely spaced, and even when it gets busy indoors, there’s a cozy lounge area and a marquee that's perfect for summer dining. Typically, we enjoy a coffee and a scone when we visit the garden center. I adore their Stilton and walnut scone, as well as the Circus Mandel. There's always a great selection of cakes available too. I would gl... View all feedback.
What Julie James dislikes about Tall Trees:
I was unimpressed with this restaurant. The scones were very nice, but when it came time to pay the bill, I was shocked to see that I had been charged £1 for a small cup of hot water. I don't drink tea or coffee, but after a long walk in the snow, I needed a warm drink. On the contrary, my partner's pot of Earl Grey tea with milk was £1.95, from which he had two cups. While I understand there may be a charge for heating the water and washing the cup, this seemed excessive. Despite this, I paid the bill and left, opting not to return.
This is my favorite place to eat. I live 14 miles away but have been coming here regularly for the past 20 years. They offer high-quality, homemade dishes that are perfect for special occasions. Their salads and quiches are delicious, and the house-made cakes are excellent. They also serve traditional meat and vegetable dishes on Sundays. The portions are generous and the daily specials are always fresh and flavorful. The portion sizes are sufficient for most diners, but those with large appetites may find it challenging to try everything on the menu in one sitting. The conservatory building adds to the charm of the restaurant.
I was disappointed with my experience at the restaurant. The quality of the food was good, but the portions were very small and not worth the price. I would not dine there again.
This garden center and its restaurant were such a great find! The food was delicious, affordable, and served with a smile by a friendly team. I will definitely be returning soon.
