Falls - Mataura

Review for Falls Hotel Bistro: a classic kiwi country pub restaurant. Great menu decent meals for a Friday night stop (we were driving North from Invercargill . Friendly staff who recommended the Blue Cod fish n chips which was stunning. Beautiful fresh fish nice crispy fries. (Photo is the ‘mini’ size! The schnitzel was very good too. Salad bar (came with meals had a decent variety of salad choices.

We parked our motorhome overnight and found there was plenty of space since it is used as a truck stop, but there were no trucks around as it was Saturday night. The ensuite bathrooms were impressively spacious and very clean, and it was only $6 per person, which included towels and other amenities. We also had free access to a washing machine and dryer, and there were clotheslines available. The blue cod fish and chips we had were the best we've ever tasted! We were extremely happy with our stay and want to extend our thanks to the Falls Hotel.

The food was excellent and the service was fantastic. Although the trainee got a little flustered and accidentally double-charged my parents, she still did a commendable job. Great work, team! Service: 4 stars.

I stopped by for a pub lunch and was surprised by how spacious this place is. The food was good and reasonably priced, with specials changing often. There's also a nice selection of drinks. Overall, I would rate the service a 4 out of 5.
