This was one of the best Indian food restaurants I've been to in a long time. Dinner (which included a curry) had great flavors and every dish was so well prepared. Plus, they had a gluten free naan like bread their missi roti that was so good, my husband (who doesn't eat gluten free) kept reaching over for more! View all feedback.

I think I have only written few reviews so far and I do it only if I am extremely disappointed or pleased. In this case, it’s the latter. We visited this place while on a trip to NZ. Ended up going to this restaurant because other somewhat known places were closed at that point. I was in a group of 8 adults and one kid. One thing we realized within the first few minutes is that they really put a great deal of emphasis customer service. They expressed a ‘Can do!’ attitude to very many requests we made while ordering food as we had a kid in our group and also individuals suffering from various digestive related conditions. I have been to many Indian restaurants in Melbourne where I live), and normally for an order such as ours, it would take around 7-12 minutes to deliver. In contrast, this order took about 25 minutes to deliver. The reason was clear as soon as I took the first bite out of the chicken I ordered. It was the juiciest and most delicious Indian chicken curry I had ever tasted. They cooked everything from fresh ingredients and cooked them on the spot! Normally in other Indian restaurants, the chicken and other meat is pre-boiled and kept in a fridge. So when an order comes, they take them out and add extra ingredients according to the order and cook again. This process produces overcooked none juicy and tasteless meat. It was clear that the chef put extra care for all the dishes to make sure they taste like heaven and that is a rare quality to find in the food industry these days. Everyone was pleasantly surprised by the taste of their dishes and started complementing the chef. Had a chat with the owner who also was involved with the customer service. He stated that they brought special chefs from India to produce quality dishes. Then some members from our group ordered Chai Masala Tea), and one of them commented that it is the best Chai she ever had from a restaurant. The prices were very reasonable, and for that quality, it’s a bargain. I wish if we had an Indus Valley in Melbourne . If I ever pass Matamata again, this would be undoubtedly my only food stop.
Delicious food, not some reheated stuff out of fridge, every thing was made fresh, loved their friendly service. Highly recommended and fair price for the portion.
We dined here lastnight, thoroughly enjoyed our meal, curries were delicious and the service was so friendly. Looking forward to next time.
Stopped by for lunch on 04-May-19. Friendly service, helpful advice, and above all, excellent food. Really. Even had some take away packed for later.
