Base Camp - Massanutten

Over and over. It is the quintessential east coast ski hut. Mediocre food, messy baths, but a fun place to enjoy a beer and watch the skiers. Several levels make it hard to navigate and access with ski boots on, but the decks are beautiful.

Good food. Very good, but good. The waiting staff did a great job and the indoor and outdoor areas are beautiful.

We had lunch at Base Camp. It was a beautiful day for outdoor dining. Our server was very attentive to the ball. Many different elements on the menu with basically something for everyone. All we had was very good, Hamburger, Prime Rib Sandwich, salad with chicken teeth. Moderate prices. The tables were correspondingly spaced apart. There are about 4 fireplace tables, with comfortable seating. The other tables, have OK chairs that could use some pillows. We also ate here a few nights ago, for the BBQ on the deck. Good food again. It was in the top 50's and propane outdoor heaters would have helped us to enjoy the atmosphere at the outdoor seats much more. There are fireworks in the tent.

Stayed in the area and loved the comfort of the location. External seats with live music on Friday. Menu was diverse enough to satisfy hunger. The veggie wings were amazing, the pasta dishes were a tad bland. Total, check it out.

The food is pretty good. BBQ Nachos and Chili Cheese fries are where it's at. If the service wasn't so spotty would definitely give 5 stars. But all in all. It's good food for when you get off the slopes!
