Even this place is categorized as cheap eatery only coperto (1€ and drinks (wine liter 8€ are lower priced than elsewhere. Primi (8-10€ and secondi (12-15€ I 'd say are normal (summer 2017 . Considering the very spartanic atmosphere (plastic tables and chairs outside, paper table clothes the value is below average even both meals and open wine are very nicet!!
Wow! What a find. We were staying nearby at Tatti and spotted this osteria on TripAdvisor. The reviews looked good and so we tried to book. Phoning was a problem as the coverage isn’t good in Tatti or at the restaurant. After several attempts to book over the phone, we happened to be visiting Massa Marritima and popped into the restaurant at lunchtime and booked a table for the evening on the same day. If you’re looking for fancy, luxury dining then this is obviously not for you. However if you’re looking for some of the tastiest seafood you’re ever going to eat, then I would highly recommend this osteria. We had the Ventagliata seafood antipasti, which was to die for. Followed by the tagliatelle with lobster, wonderful! And one of the best seafood spaghetti allo scoglio I’ve ever tasted! We also had the grilled mixed fish which was very tasty too. The price wasn’t as cheap as I’d expected, but when food is this good, that’s ok! I will definitely be back…
Excellent, fresh ingredients, prepared by expert but unpretentious cooks. I have had countless restaurant meals in Italy and this was easily one of the best seafood dinners I 've ever eaten. Even the grilled chicken with potato side dish was outstanding! I can still taste the rosemary, thyme, and dried tomatoes on the potatoes. Would go back only for those :-D. I can 't wait to go back to Tuscany to eat there again. For me the country roadside shack appearance of the building only made the overall experience even more real and satisfying. Must bring cash, no credit cards accepted. No menus in English so be prepared to grab translations off the net. Don 't know how much English the staff speaks. This is a family run business and they have a very low key service style. Don 't be disappointed if you don 't get a lot of chit chat and smiles. Just wait for the food (it arrived fairly quickly) and you won 't be disappointed.
Somewhere you would drive past without giving it a second thought, situated on a roundabout a few miles outside Massa Marittima. But we were recommended it by the owner of the hotel we were staying at, and we really enjoyed our meal. Unpretentious, plastic tablecloths on outside tables under a canopy, but the welcome was friendly and although it was quiet when we arrived, it gradually filled up with locals. The food was delicious, with fresh sardines to die for and great pasta. Handwritten menu (always a good sign! and good value, too. The owner, Aurelio, is quite a character.
