What User doesn't like about The Maryville Tavern:
There's nothing stand out about dining here - the food's not fantastic, the atmosphere isn't special, the service isn't exceptional, and the prices aren't lower than other pubs in the area - which puts it firmly in the average/okay category for me. The menu is predictable... schnitzel, pizza, burger, steak. It's not disappointing; but not anything special either. View all feedback.

I reviewed this restaurant about a year ago when we visited for dinner and had a bad experience. Friday night a couple of weeks ago we thought we would give it another go. Once again we couldn't get a table in the restaurant but that didn't bother us. I ordered the Pork belly and my husband ordered the lamb rump. My pork was stringy and tasteless - the fat hadn't been rendered and it was pretty inedible. To make it work there was a big piece of pork crackle - like the stuff you get out of packets on the top. Very dissipating. My husbands lamb looked nice enough when it arrived - it was presented nicely - the rump sliced and put on the plate. Closer inspection showed that at least half of it was raw - he had asked for Medium. It was so raw he couldn't eat it. When he waitress came to remove out plates she asked was everything ok - we showed her the lamb and she took it away. I couldn't even be bothered to complain about the pork. She returned with the money we paid for the lamb and said that the chef commented that it was a bit underdone. I think there is a big difference between raw and medium - and a chef carving and plating up should have noticed and done something before sending it out. The pub seems busy, maybe they do a good job on the pub basics like burgers and schnitzels - there were plenty of them coming out. We noticed that the menu was the same as last time we went which has to be about a year ago. For the price charged - $27 - 30 odd we won't be going back.
Went for dinner with friends and all good was fantastic- great burgers, well cooked steaks, and very tasty soups. This is a popular pub for good reason- get in and enjoy it before everyone finds out about it!
My son suggested this location for a catch up with his Mother and elderly Grandmother. As his mother, I was less than convinced it was going to work for the three generations. Yet I was wrong (again). You go in a separate entrance to the bar and there is plenty of room between tables to manoevure people and oxygen equipment. It was warm and comfortable on a cold night and the food was great with big servings (my son had to help me out with this). Parking is not that easy for the disabled but the street is quiet so I let Grandma out at the door. Friendly staff, good for kids.
