El Loro Big Lake - Martin Ave, Big Lake

We weren't sure what to expect when we pulled in to the parking lot. It was not very busy and we were wondering if it was even open. Maybe we were too early for the dinner rush. But this place was great! Our server was very friendly and attentive. The Chicken Fajitas were amazing! The bathrooms were clean and smelled wonderful. Dietary restrictions: We asked for a Gluten Free menu, they could not find one, they will be ordering more, but you can sub corn tortillas for a gluten free option on most things. My husband had the enchiladas with corn tortillas and they were good!

Food was very good, however the service needs improvement. We were one of two other couples who were there for a late lunch...servers were not very attentive, and checked in with us when we were almost done with our meal.

This place has really gone down hill unfortunately. First thing we were asked is if we were paying with cash or card right when we set down.

If I could give zero stars I would. First we were sat by a woman who was on her phone and did not even talk to us even though we asked for a booster (had to ask the server again later) because she was to busy on her phone. At the table there was no silverware, and none was ever given to us, we had to walk around and find some ourself. Our server was rude, did not listen when we asked for things (silverwear) or ordered. We asked for a soda it would never come, when we reminded him he seemed annoyed we asked. We had to ask for a chip refill (we originally got 2 baskets for 7 people so it went fast) and then it took so long to get more chips the cheese dip we ordered was hard. He took our order, brought out several wrong things (hard shell instead of soft and beans instead of rice) and once again when we said something about how it 's not what we asked for he seemed appalled we would not just accept it. Never got refills on water or drinks unless again we asked and got treated poorly for asking. One of our bills had a side of rice on it, no one got or ordered that, so my mother mentioned it was wrong his response was don 't worry about it and then I pointed out it again, he said no there is not a side charge, I pointed at it and he then finally took the charge off. I was in the service industry for 10 years so I usually am pretty lenient when it to eat as I know it can be a tough job, but this was by far the worst service and food I have ever had.

I dont know what the deal is with this place. We came in and it took over 20 minutes to get a drink. I didn't think that was very cool. They only had people at two tables.
