Cote Sud - Martigues

Wisited Cote Sud for dinner, because had a luck to stay in ibis and this place is just around the corner. Of course, english language exists only in main menu. Daily french menu will be pleasantly explained for you in french : Free snacks were really good, so I was expecting for a very good second dish. With the help of google translate I selected fish (trout , which in general is quite boring itself. Unfo, it was very boring when cooked. Too much of oil, no taste, but quite good looking. The place does not seem very expensive. Second dish with a glass of wine was 18 eur. Is it worth to go there? If you stay in ibis and do not have possibility to go to oldtown for dinner then yes, give a try, maybe you will have a bit more luck than I did. Otherwise forget it.

Under new ownership, I was here 6 weeks ago and it wasn't that great but new owners have taken it on and last week the food and service were fantastic. I stayed in the unimpressive ibis next-door (where the food is awful). I had Lamb served on a skewer vertically suspended over the plate, it was beautiful. I had duck that was the best I've ever had. I ate here for 4 nights running and the food and service were consistently good. The place is big and has a bit of a refectory feel about it so don't expect intimate surroundings but the quality of food at a very reasonable price more than makes up for the lack of ambience.

General atmosphere of the restaurant is unpleasant, the room isn't decorated enough, you get an empty feeling Service quick and correct quality of food : very moderate, sauce was a disaster, meat was overcooked and tough. Fish was not seasoned well

Very pleasantly surprised! The map is not heavy but the products are excellent. I don't put 5 stars because of the frame. But to eat you can go the eyes closed but the wide open mouth.
