We ending up at the Red Eagle looking for a more authentic place than the row of restos long the harbour. So glad we did! It's only 3 doors away from the water and a hostess welcomed us right in after I peered through the window. The three of us shared a large bowl of seafood bisque, eaten over a piece of bread and mustard that was delicious! We also shared a filling Charcute supported with ample portions of cabbage and potatoes after observing it on a few other tables. A local beer and an apple crumble dessert closed out a great lunch. Staff were all so helpful!

We ate the mussles, and beef tartare. I LOVE beef tartare, and I really wanted to try it in France. I was not disappointed, it was incredible and super fresh! The mussles were good, but a little too salty for my taste. If I went back, I'd try a burger as they looked freaking unreal. It's a really neat place, the inside is very cool, and they have a patio to sit outside, which we did as the weather was lovely. TIP: Don't order the house wine, we really did not enjoy it. If I went back, I'd actually order something a little nicer, but we really liked trying anything local or house

Wonderful service, friendly waitress who seems like she has been doing this most of her life. Very professional in service warming up to friendly over the course of the meal. I ordered a beer which was great and the moules frites. Moules et pommes frites is one of my favorite meals. Here, I was steps from the port and about to enjoy some beautiful fresh mussels. The mussels were so salty, the sauce was very thin, the meat of the mussels was way over cooked and there were several unopened shells. The fries were the opposite, not salted at all and as bland as I have every experienced. It felt so rude, I ate as much as I could manage but not wanting to waste my appetite on something that I was not enjoying, I paid and left. Perhaps I was there to late in the afternoon for lunch and received the bottom of the barrel? Everyone else on the patio seemed to be getting fresh food but then again my food looked awesome just tasted bad. I wish it had been a better experience.

I arrived here at 2:40 pm when everyone had gone and the restaurant was almost closing but the waitress accepted me with a smile. I had what they call an aioli Marseillaise , steamed vegetables and fish accompanied with an aioli sauce. The meal was really nice, the fish perfect and vegetables cooked just the way they should be al dente . The only downside was their aioli. I was expecting a homemade aioli and theirs although good, didn 't have a homemade taste. Overall, a nice restaurant between le Canèbiere and the old Port of Marseille. Certainly a good meal and good value for money. A total of 20 euros for a glass of wine, a bottle of sparkling water and a big dish of aioli Marseillaise. I would certainly go back again.
