We happened upon this delightful restaurant by chance on the old port in Marseilles. We ate inside in the cozy dining room. The boiled shrimp appetizer was 6 large delicious shrimp. My husband had the sole which he loved. I had fettucine and clams which could be a serving for two! It was very good. We had 2 amouse bouches as gifts from the chef which were very tasty. We ordered the praline creme brulee which came with praline ice cream. Delicious! And then 4 small desserts fro the chef. Our servers were excellent and the maitr’d made sure everything was perfect. I highly recommend Miramar for food, service, and ambience!
What a disgusting place to be avoided by all means! Except the perfect location on the south side of the harbour facing the iconic cathedral La Bonne Mère, everything else comes as the worst of the worst: a cheap and old fashioned decor, dirty sofas and chairs, more waiters than customers altogether wearing worn out and stained uniforms most probably underpaid migrants only add misery to the food itself. The “bouillabaisse”, that comes as the restaurant’s special and that most of us ordered for dinner came as an absolute and shameful rip off. First, the supposedly freshly cooked fish that was presented to us on a tray in obsequious manner before being prepared and served into our plates with the fish soup happened to be the very same one tray that was presented to other tables around. Then, the fish was not fresh, overcooked, and just tasting awful; the accompanying potatoes were of the poorest quality and served cold; the “rouille” mayonnaise was badly oxidised on the surface and tasteless. After tasting one bite of fish and another of potato, my dinner was over. Worse happened to my lovely niece who had to spit out her fish into her napkin in the most embarrassing manner. As we obviously complained, we were “offered” by way of compensation a glass of so called champagne that we did not even dare tasting. Paying 79 euros for that disgusting dish is one of the most foodie rip off of Marseille. If you’re lucky enough to read this review before your booking, do run away from Miramar at once and for all.
In January, my friends and I were brought to this restaurant by a guide nonna for a fee from our account. Attention !!!! The restaurant is designed for gullible tourists. the food and most importantly the bouillabaisse soup was of disgusting quality! Prices are specially inflated! service and service of extremely poor quality! If you want to spoil your mood, you are here. in the end, we were also deceived by a bill of 68 euros. I do not recommend to anyone
