Was Rachel Howard at The Rusty Crab a mag?
This place had delicious food and friendly employees. We really appreciated the service that we received. Also, try their root beer! It is smooth, creamy, and delicious! View all feedback.

What Jeff Nickerson dislikes about The Rusty Crab:
Shrimp were tiny and had no flavor. They didn't write my order down and surprise it came back wrong. They corrected the mistake with what I ordered and it followed the average trend. Under staffed having only 1 waitress for 10-15 tables plus the bar.I had high hopes. I drove a good bit to try it out. Doesn't get a thumbs up or down. Just. Average seafood a bit overpriced View all feedback.

I had the salmon while my brother ordered the fisherman's platter, and both dishes were quite good. The service was decent, although our server seemed a bit nervous when delivering the food.

We eventually had to stop the wandering young man to inquire about service, and he said he could bring us drinks. Finally, the waitress came over to take our order. I ordered hush puppies as an appetizer, but about 15 minutes later, the wandering young man returned to inform us that they were out of hush puppies. Really? After 15 minutes, you couldn’t check to see that I ordered them and that they weren’t available? At around 7 PM, the waitress brought us scoops of cottage cheese and cole slaw as our sides, which was the first food we received after half an hour of waiting. When our entrées arrived, they were at room temperature. I had ordered crab legs and had to ask for a nutcracker twice before receiving one. The melted butter for my crab legs and seared scallops was also at room temperature. I had decided to replace my hush puppies with fried mushrooms, but they ended up arriving as dessert instead. If you’re looking for a timely, hot meal in Mars Hill, go to Al's instead. To respond to your reply, ma'am, what I described is exactly what happened. The waitress didn’t even have the courtesy to acknowledge us. Just a simple greeting would have made a huge difference. The wandering young man didn’t seem to accomplish much, and it really did take far too long for him to inform me about the hush puppies. My food being served cold is a separate issue; blaming being short-staffed doesn't solve our problem. While I commend you for looking out for your team, a heads-up would have helped, especially since it was my first time there. Common courtesy dictates that if I have to wait for an hour to receive my meal, it should at least be served hot. As for the nutcracker, I shouldn’t have had to ask for one in the first place, and there was no remaining hot food; everything was just lukewarm. And to clarify, appetizers should be served before the main meal. Have a nice day.

I can't help but order the fried whole clams every time! They're absolutely delicious!

I was treated to a lovely birthday outing, and the frozen margarita was absolutely delicious. The fried pickles were incredible as well!

The image shows the previous location. They opened a new restaurant right on Main Street a year ago. The place is clean, with plenty of parking available. The facilities are new, and the staff and owners are very friendly. Plus, the prices are reasonable.
