Pho Phd - Marrickville
Pho Phd
Description
The restaurant offers a unique Pho soup that leans towards the sweeter side, with springy rice noodles. However, their Vietnamese Iced Milk Coffee was disappointing. The establishment has been described more as an Uber Eats kitchen with a rushed and unpleasant experience. Despite some negative reviews, the menu includes vegan Pho options with nourishing broth and exceptional service, while the variety of dishes available is recommended. Customers have praised the efficiency of the staff and the delicious food, although portion sizes may vary. Overall, the fresh spring rolls and Pho are highlights, but some improvements are needed in certain areas such as the Vietnamese Iced Milk Coffee and pancake texture.

Very tasty food with generous serving sizes. The caramelised pork was super juicy cooked in a delicious, umami sauce. The next highlight was a deep fried eggplant dish which was delightful and super juicy a crispy coating that will please carnivores and vegans alike. We had chicken rice paper rolls to start (standard fare) and also had diced pepper beef (tasty but not wow) and chicken fried rice. Overall a good meal. BYO it came to about $130 for 2 people.
Really good beef pho and vermicelli salad! The broth is really nice for the pho. It's a pretty small portion compared to other pho restaurants that I have visited, so if you want the normal pho size, then order a large (or an xl if you're a big eater! I thought it was a good size to share a side dish! The vermicelli salad had beef and spring rolls, really flavourful and a light dish in my opinion! Good portion! They serve really quick which is a big plus!
I was recommended this by a friend who said their salt and pepper tofu was the best he'd ever tried. I was not disappointed. Silken tofu encased by thick, uneven batter that allowed for texture variation along with the use of the fried and fresh shallots made it a perfect dish. The chow mein stir fries were also excellent. The veggies done to textural perfection. I was a bit disappointed with the price points. The mains were all over $20 and the fresh rice paper rolls whilst nice were certainly not $15 nice! Still, I'll be coming back here. The service was great.
I really enjoy the vegan choices at this restaurant, especially the salt and pepper eggplant. However, there are a lot of fried items on the menu, so it may not be the healthiest option. It's perfect for curing a hangover though!
There are two vegan pho options available, both made with a tofu and mushroom base instead of faux meat. The dishes are topped with crunchy veggies and come with a choice of different noodles in a nourishing broth. Although I have never eaten at the restaurant, I frequently order takeout from here and the service is always exceptional. I highly recommend trying it out.
