Cornersmith - Marrickville
Cornersmith
Description
Cornersmith is a highly acclaimed cafe known for its creative menu, picklery, and bakery, located in the quiet Marrickville area. While some dishes like the flatbread with pork mince and almonds were a joy, other items like the bacon and egg roll fell short with unexpected flavors. Despite the high expectations, the portions were small for the price paid and the service was lackluster. However, loyal customers appreciate the cafe's commitment to quality local produce and unique flavors. Overall, Cornersmith continues to attract patrons with its friendly staff, good coffee, and delicious vegan options, creating a welcoming and community-focused ambiance.

Cornersmith's reputation precedes it. The highly creative menu, the associated picklery and bakery, and the hip vibes of the quiet Marrickville locale all point towards a brunch lover's dream. But, on this occasion, the café's ambition was divisive. The flatbread with pork mince and almonds was a gastronomic delight; on the other hand, the bacon and egg roll was ruined, perplexingly, by bitter persimmon, which simply had no place in the meal. Both portions were tiny for the price paid. The distracted service and unimpressive coffee detracted further from an experience that was enjoyable in part, but, compared against the hype, ultimately disappointing.
An interest menu, good coffee and friendly staff, that is what is needed for a great cafe experience and this place ticks all of the boxes. My favourite dish here is the vegan surprise which is made up of a tasty selection of dips, pickled veg and a fresh salad that's always topped with an irresistible dressing. Most of the veg here is locally sourced and due to availability you never quite know what you are going to get when ordering the vegan surprise but one thing is for sure, your in for a tasty and wholesome meal every time.
I have been going to this cafe since 2010, and it has delivered consist quality healthy local produce and chutney. I like the rusty and authentic ambient, and they have unique taste. This morning the poached eggs are slightly over cooked and the kiwi fruits look like they are cut yesterday.
This little cafe has a better location in Annandale as this one is on the corner of a main road..<br/ <br/ But the food was very nice, i tried the corn pita qith chickpeas and pickled zuchinni.<br/ It was actuallt very delicious and probably not on the menu anymore <br/ <br/ Will have to return to try their breakfast options!!
I’m a massive fan of Cornersmith and all that they do and stand for. I love closer to their Annandale cafe, but when near their Marrickville cafe I definitely try to time it around a meal or coffee at the very least. Great seasonal menus driven by produce and supporters of local producers and waste minimisation.
