Excellent Sunday carvery. Delicious tender tasty beef, lamb, turkey and pork. Yummy red cabbage and honey glazed parsnips. Very helpful, friendly and generous staff. Would definitely have Sunday lunch there again. View all feedback. What Rosie B doesn't like about The Chequers:
We visited The Chequers for their Tuesday Rack Attack, which we had enjoyed before and expected it to be good. However, this time it was just okay. read moreThe Chequers restaurant received mixed reviews from customers. Some praised the fillet steak and excellent service, while others were disappointed with the lack of available menu items and the overall disinterest of staff. The Sunday carvery was highly recommended for its delicious food and friendly service. The rooms at the inn were described as adequate but somewhat tired. Overall, the restaurant was noted for its traditional pub atmosphere, good cocktails, and well-cooked steaks. Despite some inconsistencies, it was generally agreed that The Chequers is a good option for a meal out or an overnight stay.

Great steak in this High Street pub, friendly staff (even though some could do with a bit of training). Good choice of starters and mains (typical pub food).
