Great food, great service, awesome relaxed atmosphere. Went here with friends after seeing a movie. Asked the server many questions about dishes we were not familiar with, he answered all questions with a gracious and patient smile. Drinks were great as well. Would definitely recommend. I had the beef tataki and it was big on taste (and presentation), small on portion size. View all feedback.

Ordered sushi and sashimi. Recommended stuffed chicken wings, beef and salmon carpaccio. Nice presentation and good service. Especially there are not many good Japanese restaurant in Markham.

Kiu serves Japanese style ramen noodle dishes with various soup base choices to decide on, plus vegetarian options. Delicate , subtle to spicy flavour plus the option to add additional toppings to enhance your meal. Basic ramen prices are reasonable compared to some other places ($11-16). They also offer other appetizers seafood, sushi, don (rice) bowls at lunch. Attentive service, large airy room on the second floor in the new Cineplex building in Markham. Lots of parking available.

Kiu is co owned by the owner of Ramen Isshin. You will basically find all the offerings of Ramen Isshin at Kiu as well. But the ramen noodle in Kiu was much better than Isshin.Grilled lamb Chops and Ebi Mayo (deep fried tiger prawn with tempura batter and tossed with spicy yuzu mayo) was another good choice in the restaurant.Their sashimi was really fresh, the only disappoint was the sushi rice was not that good, and you know about the chief was not a japanese.

Kiu, a dining spot co-owned by the owner of Ramen Isshin, offers a delightful blend of Japanese and fusion cuisine. With fresh sashimi, delicious grilled lamb chops, and excellent Ebi Mayo, the menu pleases the palate. The cozy ambiance makes it ideal for date nights or casual family outings. The service is top-notch, with accommodating staff and quick food delivery. While prices may be on the higher side, the quality of the food justifies the cost. From exquisite sushi to flavorful ramen, Kiu provides a unique culinary experience that will leave you satisfied and eager for a return visit.

Everyone working here is very nice and it's very pretty inside. The food looks beautiful. I wish that it had vegetarian options, the only thing I saw was the tofu appetizer. If you're not a fish person the options are very limited. Aesthetically pleasing, but expensive for what it is.

I visited this place for a quick lunch on Saturday, and I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. We tried the Salmon Aburi Oshi, and even though I'm usually not a fan of torched sushi, it was really tasty. I recommend this spot if you're looking for a quick bite after catching a movie.

Great service. The fish was definitely fresh and the cuts were generous. Absolutely loved the Salmon Carpaccio and the Otoro. However, I’d only recommend coming here for the sashimi. Some of the dishes we got were definitely underwhelming. I would not recommend the Oshi nor the Karai Cali Maki. The Oshi flavours weren’t as impactful as they should be as every bite felt generic, flavour profile could definitely be improved. Personally I wouldn’t even put the Karai Cali Maki on the menu, nothing about it was special nor impactful.

I tried to make a reservation for 5:45 PM, but when I checked back just five minutes later, that time was no longer available, so I booked for 6 PM instead. When I arrived at 6, the restaurant was nearly empty, with only about three other tables occupied. I found it strange that I couldn't reserve the earlier time. If you’re planning to catch a movie or hang out around Enterprise, this place is a convenient option. Perhaps my expectations for Japanese cuisine are higher than what this spot delivered, and of course, everyone has their own taste. However, for me, it just didn’t meet the mark.

Restaurant had a very luxurious feeling and experience furniture and decorations were super aesthetic. Ordered the eel bbq donburi (unagl don) which tasted super rich and came with a side of miso. Only downside of this restaurant is the very small proportions. Friend ordered pork chops and got like 3 pieces.

Wonderful and diverse choice of the famous Japanese skewers! Fresh sashimi and beef tatami as well as unusual deserts.

Closeby cineplex threatre, very convenient, yummy n al dente ramen but soup is very salty, the environment is so good

Food is fresh and delicious. Varied selection. Prices are moderate to pricey so it’s not a place you would go daily but for special occasions, it’s great. Staff friendly too.

I had the tekka don combo lunch at this restaurant. It consisted of tuna slices on top of diced tuna over sushi rice. The rice was seasoned perfectly and the fish tasted fresh and flavorful. For dessert, I had the matcha créme brûlé, which was incredibly smooth and creamy. It was a small but perfect way to finish off my lunch.

I highly recommend trying the Makunouchi Box, as it provides a delightful departure from standard Japanese cuisine. I thoroughly enjoyed sampling each of the eight appetizers in the bento box!

I 'm surprised with the bad reviews. I grew up in Japan and I thought the food at Kiu was pretty good and close to authentic. I have been there maybe 5-6 times and have had Ramen, various appetizers and sushi. I had no complains. I can only guess maybe people would like it more if they tweaked the food for Canadian audience??... I don 't know... I wouldn 't like it if they did so though. It might be pricier than other average Japanese- 'ish ' restaurants in the area but it is a beautiful restaurant. I personally do not mind to pay a bit more for a nice ambience.

**Atmosphere:** Kiu restaurant is a collaboration between Koji Zenimaru, the executive chef and owner of Ramen Isshin, and Jason Matsubara. It is situated on the second floor of the Cineplex mall and is quite spacious, accommodating around 40-50 diners. The decor is trendy, featuring rustic walnut tabletops, black leather chairs, and booths along the windows, as well as bar seating near the sashimi chef and noodle preparation areas. The reception area is expansive, and the staff immediately greets you with warm smiles. Throughout our visit, there were plenty of staff members checking in to ensure we were comfortable. **Food:** 4/5 **Service:** 4.5/5 **Pricing:** Starting at $15 **Food Comments:** Ramen Isshin is renowned for its high-quality ramen noodles in the downtown area, so I’m thrilled they've opened a location up north. Please note that the sushi bar and omakase options were not available during lunchtime. According to initial Yelp reviews, the sushi quality may not be up to par yet (they're still in the soft opening phase), but I’m hopeful it will improve.

Beautiful upscale, clean, cozy Japanese restaurant next to Cineplex Theater on the second floor of the mall. Love the decor and ambience! Excellent food quality, and very polite and friendly customer service. Price is on the higher end but definitely worth it! Would love to go back and recommend to others!

This is my favourite Japanese restaurant in Markham. The quality of the raw fish is excellent. They have great selection and you can ask them to specially fly in specific items in advance. I've been here many times. The only thing is their appetizers are hit or miss. Their ramen is excellent too because it comes from Isshin downtown. If you have a large enough party you can request that they serve your sushi and sashimi on a 9 foot long board. Service has usually been great too. Friends and I booked the private room once where they created a unique set menu for us based on our budget, and that was a great experience.
