Bluenose Fish & Chips - Markham

Our family's favourite go-to for years and just realized I was able to review on Tripadvisor! Thank you for the delicious halibut and chips and souvlaki over the years. Bluenose is a must at our family table. 5 star people, food, and service every time!

Great restaurant, excellent service, the waitress was a hoot and the fish was great but too many fries

My cousin and I went in about 20 minutes before they closed to order take out. They were able to accommodate us. I ordered the halibut and fries. My cousin ordered a burger and fries. The prices were reasonable and the service was very good. She enjoyed her food very much. She enjoyed the crunchy fries (she got quite a bit) and said that her burger was nice and fresh. She said that she hasn’t enjoyed a burger like that in a long while. The halibut was lightly buttered and wasn’t only at all. It too was fresh and tasted well. We’ll definitely be back to try out other items on their menu!!

No wonder this place is not popular and barely any customers.This place should be shut down surprised it is still around. Went here today during lunch time experienced the worst customer service from the owner white bald guy with glasses in the kitchen. He rushed me to order quickly didn't even want to show me the menu when I asked about their lunch special in the first place. As I was trying to order ask questions he ignored me. He also took the paper menu away while I am still ordering asking him for recommendations on which fish items is most popular there to order. If he doesn't like dealing with customers talking to them then hire people who will deal with customers instead. This place seems cheap at hiring staff properly and end up delivering bad service instead. I only came to order lunch because I am in the area would never come here again. I ended up telling him that I am turned off by bad behavior so I am not interested in ordering anything anymore. I am not desperate to spend my money here and deal with his bad service. He acted like he did not care and just walked away. I did try the food here many years ago. The portions are smaller than what you see in the photos and over priced. You are better off getting food at another place instead getting treated much better.

I called at 10 am to ask if the restaurant could accommodate someone with Celiac (Auto-immune from gluten). Unfortunately my relatives chose this place as it is close to their home and they do not understand what Celiac disease is. The owner said they had a grill. I asked if they had a separate pan to cook fish in to accommodate for Celiac gluten disorders. The owner was extremely rude and dismissive. His comments were that he only concerns himself with making his food the best he can and does not worry about anyone with allergic conditions or Celiac or anything else. I have no problem with that and will not eat from here as it is not worth getting gluttened. However, as a business owner he could have told me he can 't accomodate anyone with Celiac WITHOUT BEING ABRUPT, RUDE and DISMISSIVE.
