KFC - Marion
KFC
Description
Comforting fried classics at this KFC are paired with wildly inconsistent execution. Many customers praise hot, fresh food, friendly staff, quick service, stylish interiors and a buffet option; others report cold or old-tasting chicken, repeated order errors, pest and cleanliness issues, and long drive-thru waits when chicken is unavailable. The mix of strong hospitality and uneven management creates a spot that’s convenient and appealing to regulars but vulnerable to losing patrons if inventory and quality control don’t improve.

I went through the drive-thru at 5:45 PM and ordered two regular Mac n' cheese bowls, one spicy Mac n' cheese bowl, two biscuits, and one Famous Bowl. Despite having four employees chatting nearby, my order was wrong! Instead of the biscuits, I got four Famous Bowls. It shouldn't be this hard to get an order right when it's not busy.
My order at KFC was incorrect regarding the pieces I requested, and the chicken was cold and tasted stale. The 2-piece combo was a waste of money—I lost my appetite and ended up discarding the chicken. I only ate the mashed potatoes and biscuit. The service was friendly and fast. My husband also said his chicken was cold and tough. The menu may have good options, but unfortunately, our experience did not meet expectations.
I always have a fantastic experience at this KFC! Although I miss the Carbondale location, I’m glad this one is nearby. Chelsea, who took my order, was incredibly friendly and helpful. This spot is even better than the one in Murphy. I visited during a busy lunch rush, but my food arrived quickly, piping hot and fresh. They also offer a buffet, which I haven’t tried yet, but I’ve heard the food there is equally hot and tasty. This is probably the cleanest KFC I’ve ever been to!
I noticed five employees on duty during my visit: one young woman taking orders, another working at a computer, the manager, and two staff members handling orders. However, most of them seemed to be standing around idly. It looked like the manager was in the back cooking the chicken. Customers in the drive-thru were leaving when they learned that only extra crispy chicken was available. Two people behind me, there to pick up their orders, were informed that there was no chicken at all. The manager told them it would take about 20 minutes, which visibly frustrated them. One gentleman expressed his disappointment, mentioning that he had called ahead to avoid a wait. The manager apologized and offered them drinks while they waited, but the man declined, stating he wasn’t interested. It appears that there is a lack of effective management, as the staff seemed to be just standing around and looking at each other. With so much cleaning to do—especially given that they had no chicken to serve—there should have been someone to guide their efforts. We waited about 20 minutes for a simple 4-piece dinner, and even others who had smaller orders, like a 3-piece dinner, faced similar waits. If this pattern continues and they rely on an inexperienced team, it could seriously harm the business. I am a regular at this KFC, but if things don’t improve, I may have to reconsider my visits.
The food was good, but my experience was marred by cleanliness issues. I noticed a dead cockroach and some dead flies on the ground under the table next to us while dining outside. To make matters worse, I saw one of the staff members take out a bag of trash and then come back inside without changing their gloves. It was really unappetizing. Overall, this place is quite unpleasant.
