What User doesn't like about Il Palazzo:
Not much wrong with the food here, nothing really to rave about either. Pizzas were not bad but a little on the expensive side. Mains around the table looked ok but feedback on them was that they were average, not bad but just average. View all feedback.
I was underwhelmed with our experience eating here. Although we were a large table to celebrate my nephew's birthday, I found the service slow, quality of the food poor for the prices (average price for pasta We had to constantly ask for tomato sauce...for my son's chips (never got it), another member of our table had the same problem. Staff although friendly, were constantly in our faces serving meals and clearing away plates and glasses. They mixed up drinks orders. My mother in law's meal was dry (marinara fettucini), despite description came with no sauce. They do not split bills, so be prepared to come with cash or make arrangements with your party. Toilet seat in ladies room was broken and room didn't appear to be clean. Second toilet in ladies room was blocked, which was odd for a busy Saturday night service. Oh and when we got home, my son threw up his meal. Not recommended.
While staying at the Maribynong Quest, my partner and I stumbled upon Il Palazzo, located just across the street. Despite it being a busy Sunday night, the staff were friendly and efficient, including the owner's daughter who was assisting. The menu offered a variety of options and there was a daily blackboard specials list. The bar was well-stocked and the restaurant's spacious top level was opened up, creating a large dining area. After dining at Il Palazzo every night for a week on a business trip, I can confidently recommend it. The food is high quality and portions are generous, with the pizzas being a standout. We look forward to returning in the future.
Good service in that it was a little over the top. I like to eat an entree first then decided for my main meal after that. The waiter was a pushy on getting all meals ordered at once. Arancini balls great starter. Veal parmigiana was...great, tender but the vegetables are terrible. Shredded carrot, sliced zucchini and three cubes of potato. Meat prices are way over the top. And for a sauce!! Not a good look. Over all get in and get out meals. Nothing to brag about. Very loud !!!! Have to shout to people across the table.
We were in Melbourne for three days of work and had to find an apartment near to our worksite. Maribyrnong is not particularly blessed with a huge number of restaurants but on our second night we discovered Il Palazzo, just across the road from the...Quest, where we were staying. It is tucked away in a pleasant apartment complex and easy to get to. A large restaurant in typical Italian style it offered us a great range of dishes including meat, fish, pasta and pizzas. The staff were friendly and efficient and the service was excellent. A good range of wines and beers at reasonable prices adds to the choices. We ate there three night running what more can i say!
I absolutely love this place! Whenever I'm in Maribyrnong for work, I always make sure to dine at Palazzo at least once. They serve excellent Italian cuisine with high quality food and service in a pleasant atmosphere. They even offer delivery to Quest Apartments across the road. If you're a seafood lover, you can't go wrong here! My go-to dishes are the gourmet pizzas, particularly the Fantasea, and for mains, I highly recommend the chilli prawns or the catch of the day.
