I have been to this restaurant twice for breakfast and they have the best eggs Benedict in town. The menu offers many other interesting options and the service is top-notch. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Summer's Diner:
I ordered eggs Benny and the English muffin was not toasted and cold in the middle. The Hollandaise sauce was sour. My pop had hair in it. My sisters chicken strips where frozen! She says everything is "homemade" but frozen is not homemade. View all feedback.
Discovered Summers just a couple of weeks ago and have been back several times since then. It's only open from 7 am to 2 pm so it's brekkie or lunch only. So far, we've tried the omelet, cheeseburger, rueben and the perogie lunch special and haven't been disappointed at all. Any of the lunch specials come with soup, salad or fries. Earlier this week, my wife had the Reuben and the soup she tried was cabbage roll. She said that would've been enough by itself as it appeared to be chopped up cabbage rolls with a bit of liquid. I tried a bit and it was absolutely yummy. I had the cheeseburger and it was amazingly tasty.Went again today with a couple of buddies as I was dying to try the perogie lunch and again, not disappointed. It too came with soup and I had the potato ham and it was TO DIE FOR!. There were eight perogies and came suitably dressed with cooked bacon bits, onion and sour creme. One of those meals where after, it's naptime. One friend had French toast, which I've had and it's excellent and another had the Eggs Benny, which he said were amazing.Large portions, affordable prices and quick, competent, friendly service. What more do you need?
Over the years we have driven by this small diner many times, and were always puzzled by the number of cars parked outside this out of the way diner. Several weeks ago we decided to see for ourselves why this small restaurant located in the middle of an industrial area was so busy.We went for lunch... it appears homemade soups are a specialty and on our first visit they had four soups on the menu. My husband had a potato/bacon chowder which was simply outstanding. As he had also considered the borscht, the server brought him a small bowl to sample, which he thoroughly enjoyed. My husband had the breakfast skillet, which was very good, and I had the burger of the day which was also tasty. Served on the side were the best fries I've ever had in my life (and trust me--I've had more than my share of fries!). I returned several days later with my daughter and we both had breakfast. I had the eggs benedict, which was very nice--the eggs were cooked to perfection. My daughter had the breakfast skillet and enjoyed it. As the soup had been so good on our previous visit we ordered a turkey noodle soup to go--really wonderful! The restaurant was very clean, the server friendly and efficient, We will definitely be back!
I've been there twice for breakfast, best eggs Benedict in town. Many other interesting items on the menu. Super service.
We had lunch here a few days ago, and we will return. Hubby had a special burger ordered from the chalkboard menu, bacon, mushrooms, cheese, with a massive pile of outstanding fries. Very good indeed.I had the Reuben, one of my favorite sandwiches, and it was constructed correctly (grilled), a rare thing these days. I have a quibble, however. The Reuben was not made with Russian or Thousand Island dressing, but was instead heavily dressed with Dijon mustard. This overpowered the sandwich, and I will order it again....but with no mustard. Perhaps that should be mentioned on the menu.Gravy was not home made....but as a dip for the fries it was fine, the fries are amazing, and I'm not usually a fan of French fries!Applesauce cake is utterly incredible, moist, dense, flavorful, with lovely frosting. It could be dangerous...I could eat that every day. For breakfast, apples are fruit, right? So we will certainly return, the gal who served us was friendly and swift, and the food was overall excellent.
This is just down the street from my office ... so we eat here weekly. Their homemade soups are my favorite! The applesauce cake is amazing :)
