Plbalenque - Manteca
Plbalenque
Description
Tucked near Great Wolf Lodge, this casual Latin spot charms with Sinaloan-style puffy tacos, arepas, empanadas, plantains and standout desserts, plus a solid Classic Mule. The inviting interior and attentive, family-friendly staff—willing to accommodate young children—elevate the dining experience. Favorites include BBQ pork fries, carnitas and masa specialties with crispy, non-greasy tortillas. Service can be slow at times and one dish was a touch salty, but bold flavors, thoughtful hospitality and authentic preparations make it a highly recommended stop.

I stumbled upon this restaurant by chance when we made a last-minute decision to go out for dinner and found it to be the closest option. I absolutely loved it! The interior design is appealing, the food is delicious, and the service is excellent. I will definitely be returning!
Absolutely delicious! I only wish I had discovered this place earlier. I will definitely be coming back. The plantains are incredible, and everything I tried was fantastic!
This restaurant is fantastic! The food is tasty, and I have no complaints about the service. I just wish they had a location closer to my home or more branches.
Platano Arepa, chicken empanada, carnitas, and chicken taco - all were incredible! The tortillas were thick and delicious, perfectly crispy without being greasy. This is definitely the place to enjoy some authentic Latin food. We also tried the buffalo chicken fries, which weren’t bad, but not great either; we probably shouldn’t have opted for American flavors at a Mexican restaurant! Lol We will definitely be back.
As soon as we were seated, my one-year-old son started to fuss. I asked our waiter, who mentioned he was new, if I could quickly order a bowl of beans since my son loves them. He promptly took care of that, and in the meantime, he brought out delicious chips and salsa for the table. Shortly after, the mashed black beans arrived, topped with cheese, and my son devoured them. We then placed our food orders: the adults went for the Masa Specialty mix-and-match Sinaloan-style puffy tacos, while the child ordered BBQ pork fries. The fries arrived first, and we all had to sample them since she couldn’t eat them all. They were absolutely delicious—super tasty with a perfect balance of BBQ sauce and pork, and the waffle fries were cooked to perfection! I will definitely order those next time! However, our taco plates took quite a while to arrive, which is the main reason I would rate this place 4 stars instead of 5. It took over 30 minutes for our three plates of two tacos each to come out, and we were pretty much the only diners in the restaurant. That said, the tacos were fantastic, although I found the grilled fish I ordered to be a bit salty for my liking. Each plate included beans and rice, both of which were good, and the salsa served with the tacos was tasty and spicy—exactly what I enjoy. Before we left, I inquired about milk and asked if they could warm it up for my son, as I was staying at the nearby Great Wolf Lodge, which didn’t have a microwave in the room—quite ridiculous, I know. The woman at the front said she would check, and a few minutes later, she returned with a gallon of milk and kindly asked if it was for my one-year-old son. After confirming, I told her how much I needed, and she warmed it up for me, placing it in a styrofoam bowl to keep it warm. Overall, the staff and food were excellent, and I truly appreciated the extra effort the woman went to in ensuring my son had a warm bottle of milk for bedtime. Thank you once again!
