I really enjoy the atmosphere here. The interior is adorned with amusing hillbilly-themed decorations. If you're a fan of fried food, this restaurant will feel like paradise. Most of the appetizers, such as fried okra, as well as some desserts (who could resist a fried pie with ice cream?), are all fried. The daily special featuring fried catfish, fried frog legs, and hush puppies was definitely the highlight. While... View all feedback.
The portions are huge, the music is eclectic, and the atmosphere is laid back. Nothing fancy, but a wide variety of food to choose. The bbq was tasty and moist. The sauces were not as varied as hoped, but still good choices. The fried okra was fantastic! Just wish I had room for the fried pies!
OMG slap yo Mamamazing! The decor, the food, but most of all the owner! Where's #GuyFieri? I can't wait to go back. Oh and leave room or order desert first!
The ambiance is great, the food is even better! GREAT BBQ spot!!
My sister found this place when she was in the area for work and said it was some of the best BBQ out there. It has been on my 'to-do ' list for a while and I finally got the opportunity to stop there this past weekend. What makes it so good? Their house made sauces (do the sauce tasting your first time there! . I even bought the Jack Daniels and PA 's Favorite to take home. I 'll have a hard time replicating the smoked-fall-of-the-bone baby back ribs though at home. For sides, I recommend the taters as they come to you burn your mouth hot (the only proper way to serve French fries . Get a corn muffin too. Oh, and save room for dessert because they have fried pies (I got apple . They are fluffy and crispy and took the place of the best pie I 've ever had (it moved a pie in the Pacific Northwest to the number two spot- they specializes in pies! . Take it home if you are just too full and eat it later. You just have to try it. What I really enjoyed about this place was the hospitality. The owners, a husband and wife team and give five star service. The decor lives up to the name hillbilly with a garden hose sink (the off is marked on the side and plunger toilet flusher (tip to the right . You sit at picnic table like booths with fun things to read on the walls. If you are in the area, or you are just in desperate need for great BBQ, you have to go here.
My original review from 2016 is below this. It's 2019 now and they are still AMAZING. I have never had a bad meal here, and the service is just right. Very authentic. The sauces are made in house, they're varied, and they're perfect and if you like super hot sauces, you should try Big Poppa's XXXXX sauce. It will light your hair on fire.
