Visited for the first time, lunch was had on the verandah which is built over the water with stunning views along the Manning River. We had the Seafood Plate and a couple of beers. Whilst not a la carte, the food was tasty and well presented, quantity was ample and reasonably priced, with friendly smiling service. We'll be back. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about The Waterbird Restaurant:
We were staying at Manning Point, and wanted a change from BBQ food. This restaurant is in a stunning part of the village, overlooking the river. The food we ordered was very nice although a bit overpriced. Also, I think the waitress was a bit new and didn't seem to know the difference maple syrup and balsamic vinegar; sadly I didn't check either, assuming she had brought vinegar as asked, and proceeded to pour maple... We were disappointed by the owner's attitude. Their poor manners and lack of friendliness made us feel like we were an inconvenience rather than valued customers.
Great location for breakfast and good meals , friendly staff , pet friendly ,great coffee and pizzas
The takeaway fish and chips were awful. The grilled barramundi was undercooked and the battered flathead was disappointing. We paid $15 each for them and both ended up in the trash.
The pizzas were delicious. We went back again for pizza and then again for morning tea and had the scones, jam and cream. Good coffee too. If you are in a hurry or want fine dining then go somewhere else. But if you enjoy a relaxed pace to enjoy nice food and amazing scenery then this is the place. Thanks Jim and Tracey...we enjoyed each time we visited.
We were invited to this restaurant fifty birthday, visiting Manning Point gif a week with family. From the time we walked in, everything underwhelmed. The waitress was disinterested, bordering on rude, drinks took far to look to order and way to long afterwards to be delivered. 1.5 hours after ordering the first meal arrived, a child’s chicken and chips, 10 minutes later the meals arrived for the adults andafter 20 minutes of waiting got the other 2 kids meals, we went and asked where they were chicken and chips . They finally arrived, but all mains were cold now. Let me be clear, my son and I ordered the seafood plate, my goodness what an awful gymick this was. Four marinated prawns, 3 mini spring rolls obviously cheap commercial rubbish lacking any filling at all 3 pieces of squid and one crumbled deep fried ball which apparently was supposed to be blue swimmer crab but I honestly couldn’t eat it. By now we had waited 2 hours and the meal was unacceptable. Not wanting to embarrass or make a scene I stated I wasn’t well when questioned I had left much of meal of the tiny serving . My wife had flathead and chips, the dearest fish and chips in Australia at $26 15% surcharge .. she also couldn’t eat her meal, my dinner and his wife did. At over $300 for 4 adult mains only, 3 kids chicken and chips and 4 local beers and 4 wines.... Avoid, this is a poorly managed, poor quality eaterythat survives in its location on the water but guys, very disappointing and unfairly priced for poor quality small meals.
