Caps Steakhouse - Mannford
Caps Steakhouse
Description
Nestled by the lake, CAPS offers a mixed experience for diners. While some rave about the attentive service and stunning views, others find dishes hit-or-miss, particularly after the shift from previous ownership. Highlights include generous portions of chicken fettuccine and flavorful appetizers, while the catfish and chicken fried steak drew criticism for taste and value. The fresh alligator and renowned salad bar add intrigue to the menu. Prices are noted as high compared to quality, but many recommend the Sunday buffet and blackened gator bites. Overall, CAPS shows promise, with excellent service shining through amidst culinary inconsistencies.

We were pleasantly surprised by our visit to the restaurant. The seating was comfortable, and the nighttime view was refreshing. I ordered the chicken fettuccine, which came in a generous portion, although the dish itself was just average. My husband opted for the chicken fried chicken, which also came in a large serving and was very flavorful. The highlight of our meal was definitely the complimentary appetizers they served— a loaf of bread, pita, hummus, and sweet pickles. They were all absolutely delicious! We noticed that the steaks ordered by other guests looked amazing, but they were a bit too pricey for us, starting at $40. Since we own a cow, we're able to prepare our steaks just the way we like them for much less than restaurant prices. However, I've heard from many others that those who don’t have that option say their steaks are some of the best they've ever tasted.
My group ordered the chicken fried steak, three cheeseburgers, and a fish dish. The Bahamas dish was fantastic, and the tabouli and salad bar were wonderfully fresh. The drinks were excellent, and the service staff was outstanding. I highly recommend stopping by this place for a meal by the lake. If you have a boat, consider bringing it along, as they offer moorage. The staff even sang for our 80-year-old birthday celebrant! And yes, they truly do have fresh alligator! Plus, the homemade onion rings are absolutely delicious!
