When you head inland in the south west there are a heap of small towns with cafes and bakeries. The biggest town in the old growth forests is Manjimup and the Blue Tiger cafe is the best in town. Run by a mother and daughter team, it offers the best coffee within at least 200km and a fresh menu that's as good as anywhere. It's an absolute must do if you are passing through.
The vibe is a bit cool, and the menu fits. Staff friendly and service prompt. I popped in for a weekday breakfast and enjoyed the experience. The large long black was turbo-charged, possibly the empathetic barista knew I needed a special pick-me-up after a substantial group dinner the previous night. Anyway, the Tuscan eggs were the perfect starter to the day. Scrambled eggs tumbled with cubed feta (Greek not Danish style), sun-dried tomatoes, sourdough (from a sliced load, alas) a little dish of chilli jam on the side. Hit the spot just right.
This is my absolute favorite place in Manjimup. I'm very pleased to find a place like blue Tiger in a small town, which offers so many healthy options. I'm a bit of a health freak, but this is definately approved. I hope the cafe will keep improving and offer healthy breakfast, sweets and lunchses :-)
I had a great time dining at the restaurant with my new friends and five kids in tow. I ordered the blue tiger salad (vegetarian) and was pleasantly surprised by how satisfying it was, even though I typically prefer meat dishes. It was a substantial meal that I thoroughly enjoyed.
We stopped by this charming little place during our brief visit to Manjimup. The cozy atmosphere, with a lovely wood fire to keep us warm, coloring activities for the kids, and a great menu, made for a delightful experience. Everything we ordered - from the tasty coffee and toasties to the yummy nourish bowl - was delicious. The service was also excellent.
